More of Him, More Like Him (Part 1)نموونە
Becoming More Like Him
Observation
1. Look at 1 John 2:28 and 3:2. What phrase is repeated? What hope is mentioned in 3:3? What do these say about the theme of this passage?
2. According to verse 28 (NASB), what do believers need to do as they await the appearing of Jesus?
3. What does the word “abide” mean in the context of John 15:4? How important is abiding in Christ in maintaining hunger and thirst for righteousness (also in verses 24 & 27)? And how important is hungering and thirsting for righteousness in abiding in Christ? Is it possible to remain in Christ without a continuous hunger and thirst for God and His righteousness?
4. Explain the expression “like father, like son” in the context of verse 29.
5. What results from abiding in Jesus while awaiting His coming (verses 3:2-3)?
Reflection
1. What fruitless habits restrain you from constantly abiding in Jesus?
2. What spiritual disciplines that have helped you in your Christian walk do you need to continue doing? What other spiritual disciplines do you need to start doing?
Application 1. Share your answers to the above Application questions in your next Dgroup meeting to make yourself accountable and ask for prayers.
2. Write a letter to Jesus asking Him to wean you off timewasters and fruitless habits and to help you develop spiritual disciplines to abide in Christ more and more. Pray that He will fill you with His Spirit moment by moment.
