Devotions From City Harborনমুনা
Devotional By Molly Reed
I’ve got my giants, that I can’t take down. I fight with everything I am but it’s hard to stand my ground. I’ve got my secrets that I don’t let out. I’m afraid the me that no one sees is too hard to love right now.
That is the first verse of our song “Like I Am”. I can’t tell you how many times I have felt like I was too broken, too lost, too messed up, too weak or too much. Shame enters in when we keep hurt deep in the dark. The enemy wants nothing more then to feed us lies and say that we are too far gone and that there is no hope. He wants us to believe that it’s safer in the shadows. When we sat down to write this song, we wanted to address the human emotion and struggle of sin and shame, BUT how because of Jesus Christ, we are redeemed!
Somewhere in my desperation, You give me this invitation--to leave the guilt I’ve carried, to know that You accept me. Even in my complications, Your love has no hesitation. You see the good, You see the bad. And You love me, You love me like I am.
Imagine being loved and accepted unconditionally for who you are at the core. Imagine knowing that regardless of your situation or struggle, there is someone who will be by your side in each moment for your entire life. Imagine knowing that there is nothing that will ever separate us from the Love of God...We have exactly that in Jesus.
“For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” - Romans 8:38-39
Rest in the fact that He knows. He knows who you are, the good and the bad, and still adores YOU!
