Day 2- Serving with Your Gifts
Discover: Every believer is entrusted with gifts that are meant to bless others and serve the body of Christ. Whether your gift is big or small, seen or unseen, God sees the value and desires everyone to join in the edification of the church body. We are called to be faithful stewards of these gifts, using them to serve others as a reflection of God’s grace.
Learn: 1 Peter 4:10 reminds us that serving others is at the center of the Christian walk, every believer is given unique gifts so that they can bless others and build up the church. Paul in Romans 12:4-8, emphasizes that we are all part of one body in Christ, and though we may have different functions, each one is vital to the health and mission of the church. Paul’s analogy of the body highlights the importance of every member functioning in their unique role. Imagine if the hand tried to do the work of the eye or if the foot decided it was no longer needed. The body would be disjointed and ineffective. In the same way, when we neglect our gifts or compare them with others, we hinder the full expression of God’s work in and through us. God calls us to serve with our gifts wholeheartedly. This means embracing the role He has given us and using our abilities for His glory, not seeking recognition or comparing ourselves to others.
Apply: Reflect on your gifts for a moment. What gifts has God entrusted to you? Perhaps you have the gift of encouragement, teaching, or mercy. Maybe you are skilled in hospitality, or you have a heart for serving others in practical ways. Whatever your gifts may be, they are not insignificant. Each gift, when used faithfully, contributes to the strength and unity of the Church and the fulfillment of God’s purposes. If you're still trying to discern what your gifts are, that's okay! Another practical way to discover where the Lord is calling you to serve is by serving! Get involved in the different ministries of the church to find what you enjoy doing and where your strengths lie. Finally, seek mentorship from a peer–sometimes others can see gifts in us that we haven't recognized. Having the wisdom of strong believers in your life is not only beneficial for discerning your gifts but also for your entire faith journey.
