The Faith Code: 14 Day Devotionalনমুনা
The Three Loves
In the tech world, we like to take new technology convergences and see if we can disrupt an industry, turning it upside down and creating something completely new that helps people in transformational ways. We call it “hacking”—it often makes a longer process obsolete or introduces a completely new way to meet a need or solve a problem.
In Jesus’ day, it seems clear He meant the love of God and the way He was describing it was meant to disrupt or “hack” culture and religious tradition. This kind of love disrupts the status quo, just as in the story of the Good Samaritan. Jesus was teaching those who would listen about the true nature of loving the Father—to love God, love ourselves, and to love our neighbor as ourselves, with no limit on what defines a neighbor. If we see ourselves properly - as a son or daughter of God - we recognize our true identity in relationship with Him, and that increases our capacity to love ourselves and love others. God wants us to take these three loves—loving God, loving ourselves, and loving others—globally in ways that have never been done before. He wants them to transform every area of life and change the way the world operates. So how are the loves showing up in your life?
Prayer
As God-seeking people, Lord help us to lean into love. To love You with all our being, to give grace to ourselves even when we don’t think we deserve it, and to extend that same care and compassion to those around us. We love, because You first loved us.
