Larger than Life
God doesn’t need to be reminded of His greatness, we do. So beginning prayer with praise is neither to cultivate a theology nor to affect a certain abject humility, as though God wanted to be certain we were sufficiently impressed or intimidated by Him.
Instead, praise exalts His greatness and calls my attention to my own limits—personally or circumstantially. Viewing and extolling the enormity of our Father can quickly settle the issue of our confidence. Suddenly, we’re standing in renewed amazement at His sufficiency to handle our need!
Because He is larger than life, He can handle everything about life!
