Praying Through the Letters of John with Hillsong Creativeনমুনা
After you have completed today’s reading from the Bible, we encourage you to set aside a moment to listen along to the guide provided as we pray and allow God to speak to us through His Word.
2 John 8-9 says, “Watch out that you do not lose what we have worked for, but that you may be rewarded fully. Anyone who runs ahead and does not continue in the teaching of Christ does not have God; whoever continues in the teaching has both the Father and the Son.”
John’s purpose in writing this letter was to warn against false teaching and to encourage the readers to remain grounded in the truth of the gospel, the gospel of love. We remain grounded in truth by allowing God to speak to us through scripture. As you pray through today’s reading, what truth might God be reminding you of through His Word?
Continuing in the teaching of Christ is an ongoing, daily decision. What can you do today to continue in His teaching, to walk in the way of Christ? Maybe this means actively basing your decisions today on scripture. Or, maybe it’s realigning an area of your life with what you know to be true from the Bible. Think about that for a moment now.
Holding fast to truth and living in obedience to the teaching of Christ results in a great and glorious reward. Thank God for the Holy Spirit that empowers you to live each day for Him.
“Our Father, we thank You that Your Word is a lamp unto our feet and a light unto our path. We pray today that we would let that light be our leading, be our guiding. God, we thank You that it is through obedience that we step into the life that You have created us for. We thank You that it is by Your Holy Spirit that we are guided into all truth. So today God we lay before You every decision, every choice, and we ask that You would guide us by Your Word. Give us the strength to obey. Give us the courage to do as you have commanded. In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.”

About this Plan
Join the creative community of Hillsong Church as we read and pray through 1, 2, and 3 John. These works are likely penned by the apostle John, written to a known community of believers and to specific individuals within this community. John wrote to combat false teaching by re-anchoring believers in the truth of Jesus Christ and giving guidance on how to live in love as children of God.
