Psalms 105:8-15
Psalms 105:7-15 The Message (MSG)
He’s GOD, our God, in charge of the whole earth. And he remembers, remembers his Covenant— for a thousand generations he’s been as good as his word. It’s the Covenant he made with Abraham, the same oath he swore to Isaac, The very statute he established with Jacob, the eternal Covenant with Israel, Namely, “I give you the land. Canaan is your hill-country inheritance.” When they didn’t count for much, a mere handful, and strangers at that, Wandering from country to country, drifting from pillar to post, He permitted no one to abuse them. He told kings to keep their hands off: “Don’t you dare lay a hand on my anointed, don’t hurt a hair on the heads of my prophets.”
Psalms 105:8-15 King James Version (KJV)
He hath remembered his covenant for ever, The word which he commanded to a thousand generations. Which covenant he made with Abraham, And his oath unto Isaac; And confirmed the same unto Jacob for a law, And to Israel for an everlasting covenant: Saying, Unto thee will I give the land of Canaan, The lot of your inheritance: When they were but a few men in number; Yea, very few, and strangers in it. When they went from one nation to another, From one kingdom to another people; He suffered no man to do them wrong: Yea, he reproved kings for their sakes; Saying, Touch not mine anointed, And do my prophets no harm.
Psalms 105:8-15 New American Standard Bible - NASB 1995 (NASB1995)
He has remembered His covenant forever, The word which He commanded to a thousand generations, The covenant which He made with Abraham, And His oath to Isaac. Then He confirmed it to Jacob for a statute, To Israel as an everlasting covenant, Saying, “To you I will give the land of Canaan As the portion of your inheritance,” When they were only a few men in number, Very few, and strangers in it. And they wandered about from nation to nation, From one kingdom to another people. He permitted no man to oppress them, And He reproved kings for their sakes: “Do not touch My anointed ones, And do My prophets no harm.”
Psalms 105:8-15 New Century Version (NCV)
He will keep his agreement forever; he will keep his promises always. He will keep the agreement he made with Abraham and the promise he made to Isaac. He made it a law for the people of Jacob; he made it an agreement with Israel to last forever. The LORD said, “I will give you the land of Canaan, and it will belong to you.” Then God’s people were few in number. They were strangers in the land. They went from one nation to another, from one kingdom to another. But the LORD did not let anyone hurt them; he warned kings not to harm them. He said, “Don’t touch my chosen people, and don’t harm my prophets.”
Psalms 105:8-15 American Standard Version (ASV)
He hath remembered his covenant for ever, The word which he commanded to a thousand generations, The covenant which he made with Abraham, And his oath unto Isaac, And confirmed the same unto Jacob for a statute, To Israel for an everlasting covenant, Saying, Unto thee will I give the land of Canaan, The lot of your inheritance; When they were but a few men in number, Yea, very few, and sojourners in it. And they went about from nation to nation, From one kingdom to another people. He suffered no man to do them wrong; Yea, he reproved kings for their sakes, Saying, Touch not mine anointed ones, And do my prophets no harm.
Psalms 105:8-15 New International Version (NIV)
He remembers his covenant forever, the promise he made, for a thousand generations, the covenant he made with Abraham, the oath he swore to Isaac. He confirmed it to Jacob as a decree, to Israel as an everlasting covenant: “To you I will give the land of Canaan as the portion you will inherit.” When they were but few in number, few indeed, and strangers in it, they wandered from nation to nation, from one kingdom to another. He allowed no one to oppress them; for their sake he rebuked kings: “Do not touch my anointed ones; do my prophets no harm.”
Psalms 105:8-15 New King James Version (NKJV)
He remembers His covenant forever, The word which He commanded, for a thousand generations, The covenant which He made with Abraham, And His oath to Isaac, And confirmed it to Jacob for a statute, To Israel as an everlasting covenant, Saying, “To you I will give the land of Canaan As the allotment of your inheritance,” When they were few in number, Indeed very few, and strangers in it. When they went from one nation to another, From one kingdom to another people, He permitted no one to do them wrong; Yes, He rebuked kings for their sakes, Saying, “Do not touch My anointed ones, And do My prophets no harm.”
Psalms 105:8-15 Amplified Bible (AMP)
¶He has remembered His covenant forever, The word which He commanded and established to a thousand generations, The covenant which He made with Abraham, And His sworn oath to Isaac, [Luke 1:72, 73] Which He confirmed to Jacob as a statute, To Israel as an everlasting covenant, Saying, “To you I will give the land of Canaan As the measured portion of your inheritance.” When there were only a few men in number, Very few [in fact], and strangers in it; And they wandered from one nation to another, From one kingdom to another people, He allowed no man to oppress them; He rebuked kings for their sakes, saying, [Gen 12:17; 20:3-7] “Do not touch My anointed ones, And do My prophets no harm.” [1 Chr 16:8-22]
Psalms 105:8-15 New Living Translation (NLT)
He always stands by his covenant— the commitment he made to a thousand generations. This is the covenant he made with Abraham and the oath he swore to Isaac. He confirmed it to Jacob as a decree, and to the people of Israel as a never-ending covenant: “I will give you the land of Canaan as your special possession.” He said this when they were few in number, a tiny group of strangers in Canaan. They wandered from nation to nation, from one kingdom to another. Yet he did not let anyone oppress them. He warned kings on their behalf: “Do not touch my chosen people, and do not hurt my prophets.”
Psalms 105:8-15 The Passion Translation (TPT)
For though a thousand generations may pass away, he is still true to his word. He has kept every promise he made to Abraham and to Isaac. His promises have become an everlasting covenant to Jacob, as a decree to Jacob. He said to them, “I will give you all the land of Canaan as your inheritance.” They were very few in number when God gave them that promise, and they were all foreigners to that land. They were wandering from one land to another and from one kingdom to another. Yet God would not permit anyone to touch them, punishing even kings who came against them. He said to them, “Don’t you dare lay a hand on my anointed ones, and don’t do a thing to hurt my prophets!”
Psalms 105:8-15 English Standard Version 2016 (ESV)
He remembers his covenant forever, the word that he commanded, for a thousand generations, the covenant that he made with Abraham, his sworn promise to Isaac, which he confirmed to Jacob as a statute, to Israel as an everlasting covenant, saying, “To you I will give the land of Canaan as your portion for an inheritance.” When they were few in number, of little account, and sojourners in it, wandering from nation to nation, from one kingdom to another people, he allowed no one to oppress them; he rebuked kings on their account, saying, “Touch not my anointed ones, do my prophets no harm!”
