Psalms 105:1-22 The Message (MSG)

Hallelujah! Thank GOD! Pray to him by name! Tell everyone you meet what he has done! Sing him songs, belt out hymns, translate his wonders into music! Honor his holy name with Hallelujahs, you who seek GOD. Live a happy life! Keep your eyes open for GOD, watch for his works; be alert for signs of his presence. Remember the world of wonders he has made, his miracles, and the verdicts he’s rendered— O seed of Abraham, his servant, O child of Jacob, his chosen. He’s GOD, our God, in charge of the whole earth. And he remembers, remembers his Covenant— for a thousand generations he’s been as good as his word. It’s the Covenant he made with Abraham, the same oath he swore to Isaac, The very statute he established with Jacob, the eternal Covenant with Israel, Namely, “I give you the land. Canaan is your hill-country inheritance.” When they didn’t count for much, a mere handful, and strangers at that, Wandering from country to country, drifting from pillar to post, He permitted no one to abuse them. He told kings to keep their hands off: “Don’t you dare lay a hand on my anointed, don’t hurt a hair on the heads of my prophets.” Then he called down a famine on the country, he broke every last blade of wheat. But he sent a man on ahead: Joseph, sold as a slave. They put cruel chains on his ankles, an iron collar around his neck, Until God’s word came to the Pharaoh, and GOD confirmed his promise. God sent the king to release him. The Pharaoh set Joseph free; He appointed him master of his palace, put him in charge of all his business To personally instruct his princes and train his advisors in wisdom.

Psalms 105:1-20 King James Version (KJV)

O give thanks unto the LORD; call upon his name: Make known his deeds among the people. Sing unto him, sing psalms unto him: Talk ye of all his wondrous works. Glory ye in his holy name: Let the heart of them rejoice that seek the LORD. Seek the LORD, and his strength: Seek his face evermore. Remember his marvellous works that he hath done; His wonders, and the judgments of his mouth; O ye seed of Abraham his servant, Ye children of Jacob his chosen. He is the LORD our God: His judgments are in all the earth. He hath remembered his covenant for ever, The word which he commanded to a thousand generations. Which covenant he made with Abraham, And his oath unto Isaac; And confirmed the same unto Jacob for a law, And to Israel for an everlasting covenant: Saying, Unto thee will I give the land of Canaan, The lot of your inheritance: When they were but a few men in number; Yea, very few, and strangers in it. When they went from one nation to another, From one kingdom to another people; He suffered no man to do them wrong: Yea, he reproved kings for their sakes; Saying, Touch not mine anointed, And do my prophets no harm. Moreover he called for a famine upon the land: He brake the whole staff of bread. He sent a man before them, Even Joseph, who was sold for a servant: Whose feet they hurt with fetters: He was laid in iron: Until the time that his word came: The word of the LORD tried him. The king sent and loosed him; Even the ruler of the people, and let him go free.

And they wandered about from nation to nation, From one kingdom to another people. He permitted no man to oppress them, And He reproved kings for their sakes: “Do not touch My anointed ones, And do My prophets no harm.” And He called for a famine upon the land; He broke the whole staff of bread. He sent a man before them, Joseph, who was sold as a slave. They afflicted his feet with fetters, He himself was laid in irons; Until the time that his word came to pass, The word of the LORD tested him. The king sent and released him, The ruler of peoples, and set him free.

Psalms 105:1-20 New Century Version (NCV)

Give thanks to the LORD and pray to him. Tell the nations what he has done. Sing to him; sing praises to him. Tell about all his miracles. Be glad that you are his; let those who seek the LORD be happy. Depend on the LORD and his strength; always go to him for help. Remember the miracles he has done; remember his wonders and his decisions. You are descendants of his servant Abraham, the children of Jacob, his chosen people. He is the LORD our God. His laws are for all the world. He will keep his agreement forever; he will keep his promises always. He will keep the agreement he made with Abraham and the promise he made to Isaac. He made it a law for the people of Jacob; he made it an agreement with Israel to last forever. The LORD said, “I will give you the land of Canaan, and it will belong to you.” Then God’s people were few in number. They were strangers in the land. They went from one nation to another, from one kingdom to another. But the LORD did not let anyone hurt them; he warned kings not to harm them. He said, “Don’t touch my chosen people, and don’t harm my prophets.” God ordered a time of hunger in the land, and he destroyed all the food. Then he sent a man ahead of them— Joseph, who was sold as a slave. They put chains around his feet and an iron ring around his neck. Then the time he had spoken of came, and the LORD’s words proved that Joseph was right. The king of Egypt sent for Joseph and freed him; the ruler of the people set him free.

Psalms 105:1-20 Amplified Bible (AMP)

O give thanks to the LORD, call upon His name; Make known His deeds among the people. Sing to Him, sing praises to Him; Speak of all His wonderful acts and devoutly praise them. Glory in His holy name; Let the hearts of those who seek and require the LORD [as their most essential need] rejoice. Seek and deeply long for the LORD and His strength [His power, His might]; Seek and deeply long for His face and His presence continually. Remember [with awe and gratitude] the wonderful things which He has done, His amazing deeds and the judgments uttered by His mouth [on His enemies, as in Egypt], [Ps 78:43-51] O you offspring of Abraham, His servant, O you sons of Jacob, His chosen ones! He is the LORD our God; His judgments are in all the earth. ¶He has remembered His covenant forever, The word which He commanded and established to a thousand generations, The covenant which He made with Abraham, And His sworn oath to Isaac, [Luke 1:72, 73] Which He confirmed to Jacob as a statute, To Israel as an everlasting covenant, Saying, “To you I will give the land of Canaan As the measured portion of your inheritance.” When there were only a few men in number, Very few [in fact], and strangers in it; And they wandered from one nation to another, From one kingdom to another people, He allowed no man to oppress them; He rebuked kings for their sakes, saying, [Gen 12:17; 20:3-7] “Do not touch My anointed ones, And do My prophets no harm.” [1 Chr 16:8-22] ¶And He called for a famine upon the land [of Egypt]; He cut off every source of bread. [Gen 41:54] He sent a man before them, Joseph, who was sold as a slave. [Gen 45:5; 50:20, 21] His feet they hurt with shackles; He was put in chains of iron, Until the time that his word [of prophecy regarding his brothers] came true, The word of the LORD tested and refined him. The king sent and released him, The ruler of the peoples [of Egypt], and set him free.

Psalms 105:1-20 New Living Translation (NLT)

Give thanks to the LORD and proclaim his greatness. Let the whole world know what he has done. Sing to him; yes, sing his praises. Tell everyone about his wonderful deeds. Exult in his holy name; rejoice, you who worship the LORD. Search for the LORD and for his strength; continually seek him. Remember the wonders he has performed, his miracles, and the rulings he has given, you children of his servant Abraham, you descendants of Jacob, his chosen ones. He is the LORD our God. His justice is seen throughout the land. He always stands by his covenant— the commitment he made to a thousand generations. This is the covenant he made with Abraham and the oath he swore to Isaac. He confirmed it to Jacob as a decree, and to the people of Israel as a never-ending covenant: “I will give you the land of Canaan as your special possession.” He said this when they were few in number, a tiny group of strangers in Canaan. They wandered from nation to nation, from one kingdom to another. Yet he did not let anyone oppress them. He warned kings on their behalf: “Do not touch my chosen people, and do not hurt my prophets.” He called for a famine on the land of Canaan, cutting off its food supply. Then he sent someone to Egypt ahead of them— Joseph, who was sold as a slave. They bruised his feet with fetters and placed his neck in an iron collar. Until the time came to fulfill his dreams, the LORD tested Joseph’s character. Then Pharaoh sent for him and set him free; the ruler of the nation opened his prison door.

Psalms 105:1-20 The Passion Translation (TPT)

Go ahead and give God thanks for all the glorious things he has done! Go ahead and worship him! Tell everyone about his wonders! Let’s sing his praises! Sing, and put all of his miracles to music! Shine and make your joyful boast in him, you lovers of God. Let’s be happy and keep rejoicing no matter what. Seek more of his strength! Seek more of him! Let’s always be seeking the light of his face. Don’t you ever forget his miracles and marvels. Hold to your heart every judgment he has decreed. For you are his servants, the true seed of Abraham, and you are the chosen ones, Jacob’s sons. For he is the Lord our God, and his wise authority can be seen in all he does. For though a thousand generations may pass away, he is still true to his word. He has kept every promise he made to Abraham and to Isaac. His promises have become an everlasting covenant to Jacob, as a decree to Jacob. He said to them, “I will give you all the land of Canaan as your inheritance.” They were very few in number when God gave them that promise, and they were all foreigners to that land. They were wandering from one land to another and from one kingdom to another. Yet God would not permit anyone to touch them, punishing even kings who came against them. He said to them, “Don’t you dare lay a hand on my anointed ones, and don’t do a thing to hurt my prophets!” So God decreed a famine upon Canaan-land, cutting off their food supply. But he had already sent a man ahead of his people to Egypt; it was Joseph, who was sold as a slave. His feet were bruised by strong shackles and his soul was held by iron. God’s promise to Joseph purged his character until it was time for his dreams to come true. Eventually, the king of Egypt sent for him, setting him free at last.
