Leviticus 19:9-18

Leviticus 19:9-18 New Century Version (NCV)

“ ‘When you harvest your crops on your land, do not harvest all the way to the corners of your fields. If grain falls onto the ground, don’t gather it up. Don’t pick all the grapes in your vineyards, and don’t pick up the grapes that fall to the ground. You must leave those things for poor people and for people traveling through your country. I am the LORD your God. “ ‘You must not steal. You must not cheat people, and you must not lie to each other. You must not make a false promise by my name, or you will show that you don’t respect your God. I am the LORD. “ ‘You must not cheat your neighbor or rob him. You must not keep a hired worker’s salary all night until morning. You must not curse a deaf person or put something in front of a blind person to make him fall. But you must respect your God. I am the LORD. “ ‘Be fair in your judging. You must not show special favor to poor people or great people, but be fair when you judge your neighbor. You must not spread false stories against other people, and you must not do anything that would put your neighbor’s life in danger. I am the LORD. “ ‘You must not hate your fellow citizen in your heart. If your neighbor does something wrong, tell him about it, or you will be partly to blame. Forget about the wrong things people do to you, and do not try to get even. Love your neighbor as you love yourself. I am the LORD.

Leviticus 19:9-18 Amplified Bible (AMP)

‘Now when you reap the harvest of your land, you shall not reap to the very corners of your field, nor shall you gather the gleanings (grain left after reaping) of your harvest. And you shall not glean your vineyard, nor shall you gather its fallen grapes; you shall leave them for the poor and for the stranger. I am the LORD your God. ‘You shall not steal, nor deal deceptively, nor lie to one another. [Col 3:9, 10] You shall not swear [an oath] falsely by My name, so as to profane the name of your God; I am the LORD. ‘You shall not oppress or exploit your neighbor, nor rob him. You shall not withhold the wages of a hired man overnight until morning. You shall not curse a deaf man nor put a stumbling block before the blind, but you shall fear your God [with profound reverence]; I am the LORD. ‘You shall not do injustice in judgment; you shall not be partial to the poor nor show a preference for the great, but judge your neighbor fairly. You shall not go around as a gossip among your people, and you are not to act against the life of your neighbor [with slander or false testimony]; I am the LORD. ‘You shall not hate your brother in your heart; you may most certainly rebuke your neighbor, but shall not incur sin because of him. [Gal 6:1; 1 John 2:9, 11; 3:15] You shall not take revenge nor bear any grudge against the sons of your people, but you shall love your neighbor (acquaintance, associate, companion) as yourself; I am the LORD. [Matt 5:43-46; Rom 12:17, 19]
