Hebrews 11:2 For by it the people of old received their commendation. The fundamental fact of existence is that this trust in God, this faith, is the firm foundation under everything that makes life worth living. It’s our handle on what we can’t see. The act of faith is For by it the elders obtained a good report. For by it the men of old gained approval. Faith is the reason we remember great people who lived in the past. For therein the elders had witness borne to them. This is what the ancients were commended for. For by it the elders obtained a good testimony. For by this [kind of] faith the men of old gained [divine] approval. Through their faith, the people in days of old earned a good reputation. This testimony of faith is what previous generations were commended for.
