Romans 3:22,26-28,30 - Compare All Versions

Romans 3:21-24 MSG (The Message)

But in our time something new has been added. What Moses and the prophets witnessed to all those years has happened. The God-setting-things-right that we read about has become Jesus-setting-things-right for us. And not only for us, but for everyone who believes in him. For there is no difference between us and them in this. Since we’ve compiled this long and sorry record as sinners (both us and them) and proved that we are utterly incapable of living the glorious lives God wills for us, God did it for us. Out of sheer generosity he put us in right standing with himself. A pure gift. He got us out of the mess we’re in and restored us to where he always wanted us to be. And he did it by means of Jesus Christ.

Romans 3:25-26-27-28 MSG (The Message)

God sacrificed Jesus on the altar of the world to clear that world of sin. Having faith in him sets us in the clear. God decided on this course of action in full view of the public—to set the world in the clear with himself through the sacrifice of Jesus, finally taking care of the sins he had so patiently endured. This is not only clear, but it’s now—this is current history! God sets things right. He also makes it possible for us to live in his rightness. So where does that leave our proud Jewish insider claims and counterclaims? Canceled? Yes, canceled. What we’ve learned is this: God does not respond to what we do; we respond to what God does. We’ve finally figured it out. Our lives get in step with God and all others by letting him set the pace, not by proudly or anxiously trying to run the parade.

Romans 3:29-30 MSG (The Message)

And where does that leave our proud Jewish claim of having a corner on God? Also canceled. God is the God of outsider non-Jews as well as insider Jews. How could it be otherwise since there is only one God? God sets right all who welcome his action and enter into it, both those who follow our religious system and those who have never heard of our religion.

Romans 3:22 KJV (King James Version)

even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference

Romans 3:26-28 KJV (King James Version)

to declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus. Where is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? of works? Nay: but by the law of faith. Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law.

Romans 3:30 KJV (King James Version)

seeing it is one God, which shall justify the circumcision by faith, and uncircumcision through faith.

for the demonstration, I say, of His righteousness at the present time, so that He would be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus. Where then is boasting? It is excluded. By what kind of law? Of works? No, but by a law of faith. For we maintain that a man is justified by faith apart from works of the Law.

Romans 3:30 NASB1995 (New American Standard Bible - NASB 1995)

since indeed God who will justify the circumcised by faith and the uncircumcised through faith is one.

Romans 3:22 NCV (New Century Version)

God makes people right with himself through their faith in Jesus Christ. This is true for all who believe in Christ, because all people are the same

Romans 3:26-28 NCV (New Century Version)

And God gave Jesus to show today that he does what is right. God did this so he could judge rightly and so he could make right any person who has faith in Jesus. So do we have a reason to brag about ourselves? No! And why not? It is the way of faith that stops all bragging, not the way of trying to obey the law. A person is made right with God through faith, not through obeying the law.

Romans 3:30 NCV (New Century Version)

Of course he is, because there is only one God. He will make Jews right with him by their faith, and he will also make those who are not Jews right with him through their faith.

Romans 3:22 ASV (American Standard Version)

even the righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ unto all them that believe; for there is no distinction

Romans 3:26-28 ASV (American Standard Version)

for the showing, I say, of his righteousness at this present season: that he might himself be just, and the justifier of him that hath faith in Jesus. Where then is the glorying? It is excluded. By what manner of law? of works? Nay: but by a law of faith. We reckon therefore that a man is justified by faith apart from the works of the law.

Romans 3:30 ASV (American Standard Version)

if so be that God is one, and he shall justify the circumcision by faith, and the uncircumcision through faith.

Romans 3:26-28 NIV (New International Version)

he did it to demonstrate his righteousness at the present time, so as to be just and the one who justifies those who have faith in Jesus. Where, then, is boasting? It is excluded. Because of what law? The law that requires works? No, because of the law that requires faith. For we maintain that a person is justified by faith apart from the works of the law.

Romans 3:30 NIV (New International Version)

since there is only one God, who will justify the circumcised by faith and the uncircumcised through that same faith.

Romans 3:22 NKJV (New King James Version)

Romans 3:26-28 NKJV (New King James Version)

to demonstrate at the present time His righteousness, that He might be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus. Where is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? Of works? Romans 3:30 NKJV (New King James Version)

since there is one God who will justify the circumcised by faith and the uncircumcised through faith.

Romans 3:22 AMP (Amplified Bible)

This righteousness of God comes through faith in Jesus Christ for all those [Jew or Gentile] who believe [and trust in Him and acknowledge Him as God’s Son]. There is no distinction, [1 Cor 12:13; Gal 3:28]

Romans 3:26-28 AMP (Amplified Bible)

It was to demonstrate His righteousness at the present time, so that He would be just and the One who justifies those who have faith in Jesus [and rely confidently on Him as Savior]. Then what becomes of [our] boasting? It is excluded [entirely ruled out, banished]. On what principle? On [the principle of good] works? No, but on the principle of faith. For we maintain that an individual is justified by faith distinctly apart from works of the Law [the observance of which has nothing to do with justification, that is, being declared free of the guilt of sin and made acceptable to God].

Romans 3:30 AMP (Amplified Bible)

since indeed it is one [and the same] God who will justify the circumcised by faith [which began with Abraham] and the uncircumcised through [their newly acquired] faith.

Romans 3:22 NLT (New Living Translation)

We are made right with God by placing our faith in Jesus Christ. And this is true for everyone who believes, no matter who we are.

Romans 3:26-28 NLT (New Living Translation)

for he was looking ahead and including them in what he would do in this present time. God did this to demonstrate his righteousness, for he himself is fair and just, and he makes sinners right in his sight when they believe in Jesus. Can we boast, then, that we have done anything to be accepted by God? No, because our acquittal is not based on obeying the law. It is based on faith. So we are made right with God through faith and not by obeying the law.

Romans 3:30 NLT (New Living Translation)

There is only one God, and he makes people right with himself only by faith, whether they are Jews or Gentiles.

Romans 3:21-22 TPT (The Passion Translation)

But now, independently of the law, the righteousness of God is tangible and brought to light through Jesus, the Anointed One. This is the righteousness that the Scriptures prophesied would come. It is God’s righteousness made visible through the faithfulness of Jesus Christ. And now all who believe in him receive that gift. For there is really no difference between us

Romans 3:26-28 TPT (The Passion Translation)

And when the season of tolerance came to an end, there was only one possible way for God to give away his righteousness and still be true to both his justice and his mercy—to offer up his own Son. So now, because we stand on the faithfulness of Jesus, God declares us righteous in his eyes! Where, then, is there room for boasting? Do our works bring God’s acceptance? Not at all! It was not our works of keeping the law but our faith in his finished work that makes us right with God. So our conclusion is this: God’s wonderful declaration that we are righteous in his eyes can only come when we put our faith in Christ, and not in keeping the law.

Romans 3:30 TPT (The Passion Translation)

Since there is only one God, he will treat us all the same—he eliminates our guilt and makes us right with him by faith no matter who we are.

Romans 3:22 ESV (English Standard Version 2025)

the righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ for all who believe. For there is no distinction

Romans 3:26-28 ESV (English Standard Version 2025)

It was to show his righteousness at the present time, so that he might be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus. Then what becomes of our boasting? It is excluded. By what kind of law? By a law of works? No, but by the law of faith. For we hold that one is justified by faith apart from works of the law.

Romans 3:30 ESV (English Standard Version 2025)

since God is one—who will justify the circumcised by faith and the uncircumcised through faith.
