Psalms 88:4-6
Psalms 88:1-9 The Message (MSG)
GOD, you’re my last chance of the day. I spend the night on my knees before you. Put me on your salvation agenda; take notes on the trouble I’m in. I’ve had my fill of trouble; I’m camped on the edge of hell. I’m written off as a lost cause, one more statistic, a hopeless case. Abandoned as already dead, one more body in a stack of corpses, And not so much as a gravestone— I’m a black hole in oblivion. You’ve dropped me into a bottomless pit, sunk me in a pitch-black abyss. I’m battered senseless by your rage, relentlessly pounded by your waves of anger. You turned my friends against me, made me horrible to them. I’m caught in a maze and can’t find my way out, blinded by tears of pain and frustration.
Psalms 88:4-6 King James Version (KJV)
I am counted with them that go down into the pit: I am as a man that hath no strength: Free among the dead, like the slain that lie in the grave, Whom thou rememberest no more: And they are cut off from thy hand. Thou hast laid me in the lowest pit, In darkness, in the deeps.
Psalms 88:4-6 New American Standard Bible - NASB 1995 (NASB1995)
I am reckoned among those who go down to the pit; I have become like a man without strength, Forsaken among the dead, Like the slain who lie in the grave, Whom You remember no more, And they are cut off from Your hand. You have put me in the lowest pit, In dark places, in the depths.
Psalms 88:4-6 New Century Version (NCV)
They think I am on the way to my grave. I am like a man with no strength. I have been left as dead, like a body lying in a grave whom you don’t remember anymore, cut off from your care. You have brought me close to death; I am almost in the dark place of the dead.
Psalms 88:4-6 American Standard Version (ASV)
I am reckoned with them that go down into the pit; I am as a man that hath no help, Cast off among the dead, Like the slain that lie in the grave, Whom thou rememberest no more, And they are cut off from thy hand. Thou hast laid me in the lowest pit, In dark places, in the deeps.
Psalms 88:4-6 New International Version (NIV)
I am counted among those who go down to the pit; I am like one without strength. I am set apart with the dead, like the slain who lie in the grave, whom you remember no more, who are cut off from your care. You have put me in the lowest pit, in the darkest depths.
Psalms 88:4-6 New King James Version (NKJV)
I am counted with those who go down to the pit; I am like a man who has no strength, Adrift among the dead, Like the slain who lie in the grave, Whom You remember no more, And who are cut off from Your hand. You have laid me in the lowest pit, In darkness, in the depths.
Psalms 88:4-6 Amplified Bible (AMP)
I am counted among those who go down to the pit (grave); I am like a man who has no strength [a mere shadow], Cast away [from the living] and abandoned among the dead, Like the slain who lie in a [nameless] grave, Whom You no longer remember, And they are cut off from Your hand. You have laid me in the lowest pit, In dark places, in the depths.
Psalms 88:4-6 New Living Translation (NLT)
I am as good as dead, like a strong man with no strength left. They have left me among the dead, and I lie like a corpse in a grave. I am forgotten, cut off from your care. You have thrown me into the lowest pit, into the darkest depths.
Psalms 88:4-6 The Passion Translation (TPT)
They’ve all left me here to die, helpless, like one who is doomed for death. They’re convinced you’ve forsaken me, certain that you’ve forgotten me completely— abandoned, pierced, with nothing to look forward to but death. They have discarded me and thrown me down into the deepest darkness as into a bottomless pit.
Psalms 88:4-6 English Standard Version 2016 (ESV)
I am counted among those who go down to the pit; I am a man who has no strength, like one set loose among the dead, like the slain that lie in the grave, like those whom you remember no more, for they are cut off from your hand. You have put me in the depths of the pit, in the regions dark and deep.
