Psalms 83:13-16
Psalms 83:13-16 The Passion Translation (TPT)
Blow them away, God, like straw in the wind, like a tumbleweed in the wilderness! Burn them up like a raging fire roaring down the mountainside; consume them all until only charred sticks remain! Chase them away like before a mighty storm and terrifying tempest. O Lord, disgrace them until their faces fill with shame, and make them acknowledge the glory of your name.
Psalms 83:13-18 The Message (MSG)
My God! I’ve had it with them! Blow them away! Tumbleweeds in the desert waste, charred sticks in the burned-over ground. Knock the breath right out of them, so they’re gasping for breath, gasping, “GOD.” Bring them to the end of their rope, and leave them there dangling, helpless. Then they’ll learn your name: “GOD,” the one and only High God on earth.
Psalms 83:13-16 King James Version (KJV)
O my God, make them like a wheel; As the stubble before the wind. As the fire burneth a wood, And as the flame setteth the mountains on fire; So persecute them with thy tempest, And make them afraid with thy storm. Fill their faces with shame; That they may seek thy name, O LORD.
Psalms 83:13-16 New American Standard Bible - NASB 1995 (NASB1995)
O my God, make them like the whirling dust, Like chaff before the wind. Like fire that burns the forest And like a flame that sets the mountains on fire, So pursue them with Your tempest And terrify them with Your storm. Fill their faces with dishonor, That they may seek Your name, O LORD.
Psalms 83:13-16 New Century Version (NCV)
My God, make them like tumbleweed, like chaff blown away by the wind. Be like a fire that burns a forest or like flames that blaze through the hills. Chase them with your storm, and frighten them with your wind. Cover them with shame. Then people will look for you, LORD.
Psalms 83:13-16 American Standard Version (ASV)
O my God, make them like the whirling dust; As stubble before the wind. As the fire that burneth the forest, And as the flame that setteth the mountains on fire, So pursue them with thy tempest, And terrify them with thy storm. Fill their faces with confusion, That they may seek thy name, O Jehovah.
Psalms 83:13-16 New International Version (NIV)
Make them like tumbleweed, my God, like chaff before the wind. As fire consumes the forest or a flame sets the mountains ablaze, so pursue them with your tempest and terrify them with your storm. Cover their faces with shame, LORD, so that they will seek your name.
Psalms 83:13-16 New King James Version (NKJV)
O my God, make them like the whirling dust, Like the chaff before the wind! As the fire burns the woods, And as the flame sets the mountains on fire, So pursue them with Your tempest, And frighten them with Your storm. Fill their faces with shame, That they may seek Your name, O LORD.
Psalms 83:13-16 Amplified Bible (AMP)
¶O my God, make them like whirling dust, Like chaff before the wind [worthless and without substance]. Like fire consumes the forest, And like the flame sets the mountains on fire, So pursue them with Your tempest And terrify them with [the violence of] Your storm. Fill their faces with shame and disgrace, That they may [persistently] seek Your name, O LORD.
Psalms 83:13-16 New Living Translation (NLT)
O my God, scatter them like tumbleweed, like chaff before the wind! As a fire burns a forest and as a flame sets mountains ablaze, chase them with your fierce storm; terrify them with your tempest. Utterly disgrace them until they submit to your name, O LORD.
Psalms 83:13-16 English Standard Version 2016 (ESV)
O my God, make them like whirling dust, like chaff before the wind. As fire consumes the forest, as the flame sets the mountains ablaze, so may you pursue them with your tempest and terrify them with your hurricane! Fill their faces with shame, that they may seek your name, O LORD.
