Psalms 71:7-11
Psalms 71:4-11 The Message (MSG)
My God, free me from the grip of Wicked, from the clutch of Bad and Bully. You keep me going when times are tough— my bedrock, GOD, since my childhood. I’ve hung on you from the day of my birth, the day you took me from the cradle; I’ll never run out of praise. Many gasp in alarm when they see me, but you take me in stride. Just as each day brims with your beauty, my mouth brims with praise. But don’t turn me out to pasture when I’m old or put me on the shelf when I can’t pull my weight. My enemies are talking behind my back, watching for their chance to knife me. The gossip is: “God has abandoned him. Pounce on him now; no one will help him.”
Psalms 71:7-11 King James Version (KJV)
I am as a wonder unto many; But thou art my strong refuge. Let my mouth be filled with thy praise And with thy honour all the day. Cast me not off in the time of old age; Forsake me not when my strength faileth. For mine enemies speak against me; And they that lay wait for my soul take counsel together, saying, God hath forsaken him: Persecute and take him; for there is none to deliver him.
Psalms 71:7-11 New American Standard Bible - NASB 1995 (NASB1995)
I have become a marvel to many, For You are my strong refuge. My mouth is filled with Your praise And with Your glory all day long. Do not cast me off in the time of old age; Do not forsake me when my strength fails. For my enemies have spoken against me; And those who watch for my life have consulted together, Saying, “God has forsaken him; Pursue and seize him, for there is no one to deliver.”
Psalms 71:7-11 New Century Version (NCV)
I am an example to many people, because you are my strong protection. I am always praising you; all day long I honor you. Do not reject me when I am old; do not leave me when my strength is gone. My enemies make plans against me, and they meet together to kill me. They say, “God has left him. Go after him and take him, because no one will save him.”
Psalms 71:7-11 American Standard Version (ASV)
I am as a wonder unto many; But thou art my strong refuge. My mouth shall be filled with thy praise, And with thy honor all the day. Cast me not off in the time of old age; Forsake me not when my strength faileth. For mine enemies speak concerning me; And they that watch for my soul take counsel together, Saying, God hath forsaken him: Pursue and take him; for there is none to deliver.
Psalms 71:7-11 New International Version (NIV)
I have become a sign to many; you are my strong refuge. My mouth is filled with your praise, declaring your splendor all day long. Do not cast me away when I am old; do not forsake me when my strength is gone. For my enemies speak against me; those who wait to kill me conspire together. They say, “God has forsaken him; pursue him and seize him, for no one will rescue him.”
Psalms 71:7-11 New King James Version (NKJV)
I have become as a wonder to many, But You are my strong refuge. Let my mouth be filled with Your praise And with Your glory all the day. Do not cast me off in the time of old age; Do not forsake me when my strength fails. For my enemies speak against me; And those who lie in wait for my life take counsel together, Saying, “God has forsaken him; Pursue and take him, for there is none to deliver him.”
Psalms 71:7-11 Amplified Bible (AMP)
¶I am as a wonder to many, For You are my strong refuge. My mouth is filled with Your praise And with Your glory all day long. Do not cast me off nor send me away in the time of old age; Do not abandon me when my strength fails and I am weak. For my enemies have spoken against me; Those who watch for my life have consulted together, Saying, “God has abandoned him; Pursue and seize him, for there is no one to rescue him.”
Psalms 71:7-11 New Living Translation (NLT)
My life is an example to many, because you have been my strength and protection. That is why I can never stop praising you; I declare your glory all day long. And now, in my old age, don’t set me aside. Don’t abandon me when my strength is failing. For my enemies are whispering against me. They are plotting together to kill me. They say, “God has abandoned him. Let’s go and get him, for no one will help him now.”
Psalms 71:6-11 The Passion Translation (TPT)
It was you who supported me from the day I was born, loving me, helping me through my life’s journey. You’ve made me into a miracle; no wonder I trust you and praise you forever! Many marvel at my success, but I know it is all because of you, my mighty protector! I’m overflowing with your praise for all you’ve done, and your splendor thrills me all day long. Now that I’m old, don’t set me aside. Don’t let go of me when my strength is spent. For all my enemies whisper behind my back. They’re waiting for me to fall so they can finish me off. They’re convinced you’ve left me and that you’ll never come to my rescue. They’re saying, “Let’s get him now! He has no savior!”
Psalms 71:7-11 English Standard Version 2016 (ESV)
I have been as a portent to many, but you are my strong refuge. My mouth is filled with your praise, and with your glory all the day. Do not cast me off in the time of old age; forsake me not when my strength is spent. For my enemies speak concerning me; those who watch for my life consult together and say, “God has forsaken him; pursue and seize him, for there is none to deliver him.”
