Psalms 14:4-7
Psalms 14:4-7 The Message (MSG)
Don’t they know anything, all these predators? Don’t they know they can’t get away with this— Treating people like a fast-food meal over which they’re too busy to pray? Night is coming for them, and nightmares, for God takes the side of victims. Do you think you can mess with the dreams of the poor? You can’t, for God makes their dreams come true. Is there anyone around to save Israel? Yes. God is around; GOD turns life around. Turned-around Jacob skips rope, turned-around Israel sings laughter.
Psalms 14:4-7 King James Version (KJV)
Have all the workers of iniquity no knowledge? Who eat up my people as they eat bread, and call not upon the LORD. There were they in great fear: For God is in the generation of the righteous. Ye have shamed the counsel of the poor, Because the LORD is his refuge. Oh that the salvation of Israel were come out of Zion! When the LORD bringeth back the captivity of his people, Jacob shall rejoice, and Israel shall be glad.
Psalms 14:4-7 New American Standard Bible - NASB 1995 (NASB1995)
Do all the workers of wickedness not know, Who eat up my people as they eat bread, And do not call upon the LORD? There they are in great dread, For God is with the righteous generation. You would put to shame the counsel of the afflicted, But the LORD is his refuge. Oh, that the salvation of Israel would come out of Zion! When the LORD restores His captive people, Jacob will rejoice, Israel will be glad.
Psalms 14:4-7 New Century Version (NCV)
Don’t the wicked understand? They destroy my people as if they were eating bread. They do not ask the LORD for help. But the wicked are filled with terror, because God is with those who do what is right. The wicked upset the plans of the poor, but the LORD will protect them. I pray that victory will come to Israel from Mount Zion! May the LORD bring them back. Then the people of Jacob will rejoice, and the people of Israel will be glad.
Psalms 14:4-7 American Standard Version (ASV)
Have all the workers of iniquity no knowledge, Who eat up my people as they eat bread, And call not upon Jehovah? There were they in great fear; For God is in the generation of the righteous. Ye put to shame the counsel of the poor, Because Jehovah is his refuge. Oh that the salvation of Israel were come out of Zion! When Jehovah bringeth back the captivity of his people, Then shall Jacob rejoice, and Israel shall be glad.
Psalms 14:4-7 New International Version (NIV)
Do all these evildoers know nothing? They devour my people as though eating bread; they never call on the LORD. But there they are, overwhelmed with dread, for God is present in the company of the righteous. You evildoers frustrate the plans of the poor, but the LORD is their refuge. Oh, that salvation for Israel would come out of Zion! When the LORD restores his people, let Jacob rejoice and Israel be glad!
Psalms 14:4-7 New King James Version (NKJV)
Have all the workers of iniquity no knowledge, Who eat up my people as they eat bread, And do not call on the LORD? There they are in great fear, For God is with the generation of the righteous. You shame the counsel of the poor, But the LORD is his refuge. Oh, that the salvation of Israel would come out of Zion! When the LORD brings back the captivity of His people, Let Jacob rejoice and Israel be glad.
Psalms 14:4-7 Amplified Bible (AMP)
¶Have all the workers of wickedness and injustice no knowledge, Who eat up my people as they eat bread, And do not call upon the LORD? There they tremble with great fear, For God is with the [consistently] righteous generation. You [evildoers] shamefully plan against the poor, But the LORD is his safe refuge. ¶Oh, that the salvation of Israel would come out of Zion! When the LORD restores His captive people, Then Jacob will rejoice, Israel will be glad. [Rom 11:25-27]
Psalms 14:4-7 New Living Translation (NLT)
Will those who do evil never learn? They eat up my people like bread and wouldn’t think of praying to the LORD. Terror will grip them, for God is with those who obey him. The wicked frustrate the plans of the oppressed, but the LORD will protect his people. Who will come from Mount Zion to rescue Israel? When the LORD restores his people, Jacob will shout with joy, and Israel will rejoice.
Psalms 14:4-7 The Passion Translation (TPT)
They live in luxury while exploiting my people! Won’t these workers of wickedness ever learn? They don’t ever think of praying to God. But look at them now, in panic, trembling with terror. For God is on the side of his godly lovers. YAHWEH is always the safest place for the poor when the workers of wickedness oppress them. How I wish that Israel’s rescue would arise from the midst of Zion! When YAHWEH restores his people, Jacob’s joy will break forth and Israel will be glad!
Psalms 14:4-7 English Standard Version 2016 (ESV)
Have they no knowledge, all the evildoers who eat up my people as they eat bread and do not call upon the LORD? There they are in great terror, for God is with the generation of the righteous. You would shame the plans of the poor, but the LORD is his refuge. Oh, that salvation for Israel would come out of Zion! When the LORD restores the fortunes of his people, let Jacob rejoice, let Israel be glad.
