They performed his signs among them, his wonders in the land of Ham. He sent darkness and made the land dark— for had they not rebelled against his words? He turned their waters into blood, causing their fish to die. Their land teemed with frogs, which went up into the bedrooms of their rulers. He spoke, and there came swarms of flies, and gnats throughout their country. He turned their rain into hail, with lightning throughout their land; he struck down their vines and fig trees and shattered the trees of their country. He spoke, and the locusts came, grasshoppers without number; they ate up every green thing in their land, ate up the produce of their soil. Then he struck down all the firstborn in their land, the firstfruits of all their manhood. He brought out Israel, laden with silver and gold, and from among their tribes no one faltered. Egypt was glad when they left, because dread of Israel had fallen on them. He spread out a cloud as a covering, and a fire to give light at night. They asked, and he brought them quail; he fed them well with the bread of heaven. He opened the rock, and water gushed out; it flowed like a river in the desert. For he remembered his holy promise given to his servant Abraham. He brought out his people with rejoicing, his chosen ones with shouts of joy; he gave them the lands of the nations, and they fell heir to what others had toiled for— that they might keep his precepts and observe his laws.

He turned their waters into blood and caused their fish to die. Their land swarmed with frogs, even in the chambers of their kings. He spoke, and there came swarms of flies, and gnats throughout their country. He gave them hail for rain, and fiery lightning bolts through their land. He struck down their vines and fig trees, and shattered the trees of their country. He spoke, and the locusts came, young locusts without number, which devoured all the vegetation in their land and ate up the fruit of their ground. He struck down all the firstborn in their land, the firstfruits of all their strength. Then he brought out Israel with silver and gold, and there was none among his tribes who stumbled. Egypt was glad when they departed, for dread of them had fallen upon it. He spread a cloud for a covering, and fire to give light by night. They asked, and he brought quail, and gave them bread from heaven in abundance. He opened the rock, and water gushed out; it flowed through the desert like a river. For he remembered his holy promise, and Abraham, his servant. So he brought his people out with joy, his chosen ones with singing. And he gave them the lands of the nations, and they took possession of the fruit of the peoples’ toil, that they might keep his statutes and observe his laws. Praise the LORD!

They performed miraculous signs among the Egyptians, and wonders in the land of Ham. The LORD blanketed Egypt in darkness, for they had defied his commands to let his people go. He turned their water into blood, poisoning all the fish. Then frogs overran the land and even invaded the king’s bedrooms. When the LORD spoke, flies descended on the Egyptians, and gnats swarmed across Egypt. He sent them hail instead of rain, and lightning flashed over the land. He ruined their grapevines and fig trees and shattered all the trees. He spoke, and hordes of locusts came— young locusts beyond number. They ate up everything green in the land, destroying all the crops in their fields. Then he killed the oldest son in each Egyptian home, the pride and joy of each family. The LORD brought his people out of Egypt, loaded with silver and gold; and not one among the tribes of Israel even stumbled. Egypt was glad when they were gone, for they feared them greatly. The LORD spread a cloud above them as a covering and gave them a great fire to light the darkness. They asked for meat, and he sent them quail; he satisfied their hunger with manna—bread from heaven. He split open a rock, and water gushed out to form a river through the dry wasteland. For he remembered his sacred promise to his servant Abraham. So he brought his people out of Egypt with joy, his chosen ones with rejoicing. He gave his people the lands of pagan nations, and they harvested crops that others had planted. All this happened so they would follow his decrees and obey his instructions.

They devoured all the vegetation in their land and consumed the produce of their land.  He struck all the firstborn in their land, all their first progeny.  Then he brought Israel out with silver and gold, and no one among his tribes stumbled.  Egypt was glad when they left, for the dread of Israel  had fallen on them.  He spread a cloud as a covering and gave a fire to light up the night.  They asked, and he brought quail and satisfied them with bread from heaven.  He opened a rock, and water gushed out; it flowed like a stream in the desert.  For he remembered his holy promise to Abraham his servant.  He brought his people out with rejoicing, his chosen ones with shouts of joy.  He gave them the lands of the nations, and they inherited what other peoples had worked for.  All this happened so that they might keep his statutes and obey his instructions.  Hallelujah!

Their land brought forth frogs in abundance, In the chambers of their kings. He spake, and there came divers sorts of flies, And lice in all their coasts. He gave them hail for rain, And flaming fire in their land. He smote their vines also and their fig trees; And brake the trees of their coasts. He spake, and the locusts came, and caterpillers, and that without number, And did eat up all the herbs in their land, and devoured the fruit of their ground. He smote also all the firstborn in their land, The chief of all their strength. He brought them forth also with silver and gold: And there was not one feeble person among their tribes. Egypt was glad when they departed: For the fear of them fell upon them. He spread a cloud for a covering; And fire to give light in the night. The people asked, and he brought quails, And satisfied them with the bread of heaven. He opened the rock, and the waters gushed out; They ran in the dry places like a river. For he remembered his holy promise, And Abraham his servant. And he brought forth his people with joy, And his chosen with gladness: And gave them the lands of the heathen: And they inherited the labour of the people; That they might observe his statutes, And keep his laws. Then Israel entered Egypt, Jacob immigrated to the Land of Ham. God gave his people lots of babies; soon their numbers alarmed their foes. He turned the Egyptians against his people; they abused and cheated God’s servants. Then he sent his servant Moses, and Aaron, whom he also chose. They worked marvels in that spiritual wasteland, miracles in the Land of Ham. He spoke, “Darkness!” and it turned dark— they couldn’t see what they were doing. He turned all their water to blood so that all their fish died; He made frogs swarm through the land, even into the king’s bedroom; He gave the word and flies swarmed, gnats filled the air. He substituted hail for rain, he stabbed their land with lightning; He wasted their vines and fig trees, smashed their groves of trees to splinters; With a word he brought in locusts, millions of locusts, armies of locusts; They consumed every blade of grass in the country and picked the ground clean of produce; He struck down every firstborn in the land, the first fruits of their virile powers. He led Israel out, their arms filled with loot, and not one among his tribes even stumbled. Egypt was glad to have them go— they were scared to death of them. God spread a cloud to keep them cool through the day and a fire to light their way through the night; They prayed and he brought quail, filled them with the bread of heaven; He opened the rock and water poured out; it flowed like a river through that desert— All because he remembered his Covenant, his promise to Abraham, his servant. Remember this! He led his people out singing for joy; his chosen people marched, singing their hearts out! He made them a gift of the country they entered, helped them seize the wealth of the nations So they could do everything he told them— could follow his instructions to the letter.

He spoke, and locusts came, And creeping locusts, beyond number, And they ate all the vegetation in their land, And ate the fruit of their ground. He also fatally struck all the firstborn in their land, The first fruits of all their vigor. ¶Then He brought the Israelites out with silver and gold, And among His tribes there was not one who stumbled. Egypt was glad when they departed, For the dread of them had fallen upon the Egyptians. He spread out a cloud as a covering, And fire to illumine by night. They asked, and He brought quail, And satisfied them with the bread of heaven. He opened the rock and water flowed out; It ran in the dry places like a river. For He remembered His holy word With His servant Abraham; And He led out His people with joy, His chosen ones with a joyful shout. He also gave them the lands of the nations, So that they might take possession of the fruit of the peoples’ labor, And that they might keep His statutes And comply with His laws; Praise the LORD!

They exhibited His wondrous signs among them, Great miracles in the land of Ham (Egypt). He sent [thick, oppressive] darkness and made the land dark; And Moses and Aaron did not rebel against His words. [Ex 10:22; Ps 99:7] He turned Egypt’s waters into blood And caused their fish to die. [Ex 7:20, 21] Their land swarmed with frogs, Even in the chambers of their kings. [Ex 8:6] He spoke, and there came swarms of flies And gnats in all their territory. [Ex 8:17, 24] He gave them hail for rain, With flaming fire in their land. [Ex 9:23, 25] He struck their vines also and their fig trees, And shattered the [ice-laden] trees of their territory. [Ex 13:21] The Israelites asked, and He brought quail, And satisfied them with the bread of heaven. [Ex 16:12-15] He opened the rock and water flowed out; It ran in the dry places like a river. [Ex 17:6; Num 20:11] For He remembered His holy word To Abraham His servant; [Gen 15:14] He brought out His people with joy, And His chosen ones with a joyful shout, He gave them the lands of the nations [of Canaan], So that they would possess the fruits of those peoples’ labor, [Deut 6:10, 11] So that they might observe His precepts And keep His laws [obediently accepting and honoring and valuing them]. They executed his miraculous signs among them, and his amazing deeds in the land of Ham. He made it dark; they did not disobey his orders. He turned their water into blood, and killed their fish. Their land was overrun by frogs, which even got into the rooms of their kings. He ordered flies to come; gnats invaded their whole territory. He sent hail along with the rain; there was lightning in their land. He destroyed their vines and fig trees, and broke the trees throughout their territory. He ordered locusts to come, innumerable grasshoppers. They ate all the vegetation in their land, and devoured the crops of their fields. He struck down all the firstborn in their land, the firstfruits of their reproductive power. He brought his people out enriched with silver and gold; none of his tribes stumbled. Egypt was happy when they left, for they were afraid of them. He spread out a cloud for a cover, and provided a fire to light up the night. They asked for food, and he sent quails; he satisfied them with food from the sky. He opened up a rock and water flowed out; a river ran through dry regions. Yes, he remembered the sacred promise he made to Abraham his servant. When he led his people out, they rejoiced; his chosen ones shouted with joy. He handed the territory of nations over to them, and they took possession of what other peoples had produced, so that they might keep his commands and obey his laws. Praise the LORD!
