Psalms 104:20-23
Psalms 104:14-23 The Message (MSG)
Oh yes, God brings grain from the land, wine to make people happy, Their faces glowing with health, a people well-fed and hearty. GOD’s trees are well-watered— the Lebanon cedars he planted. Birds build their nests in those trees; look—the stork at home in the treetop. Mountain goats climb about the cliffs; badgers burrow among the rocks. The moon keeps track of the seasons, the sun is in charge of each day. When it’s dark and night takes over, all the forest creatures come out. The young lions roar for their prey, clamoring to God for their supper. When the sun comes up, they vanish, lazily stretched out in their dens. Meanwhile, men and women go out to work, busy at their jobs until evening.
Psalms 104:20-23 King James Version (KJV)
Thou makest darkness, and it is night: Wherein all the beasts of the forest do creep forth. The young lions roar after their prey, And seek their meat from God. The sun ariseth, they gather themselves together, And lay them down in their dens. Man goeth forth unto his work And to his labour until the evening.
Psalms 104:20-23 New American Standard Bible - NASB 1995 (NASB1995)
You appoint darkness and it becomes night, In which all the beasts of the forest prowl about. The young lions roar after their prey And seek their food from God. When the sun rises they withdraw And lie down in their dens. Man goes forth to his work And to his labor until evening.
Psalms 104:20-23 New Century Version (NCV)
You make it dark, and it becomes night. Then all the wild animals creep around. The lions roar as they attack. They look to God for food. When the sun rises, they leave and go back to their dens to lie down. Then people go to work and work until evening.
Psalms 104:20-23 American Standard Version (ASV)
Thou makest darkness, and it is night, Wherein all the beasts of the forest creep forth. The young lions roar after their prey, And seek their food from God. The sun ariseth, they get them away, And lay them down in their dens. Man goeth forth unto his work And to his labor until the evening.
Psalms 104:20-23 New International Version (NIV)
You bring darkness, it becomes night, and all the beasts of the forest prowl. The lions roar for their prey and seek their food from God. The sun rises, and they steal away; they return and lie down in their dens. Then people go out to their work, to their labor until evening.
Psalms 104:20-23 New King James Version (NKJV)
You make darkness, and it is night, In which all the beasts of the forest creep about. The young lions roar after their prey, And seek their food from God. When the sun rises, they gather together And lie down in their dens. Man goes out to his work And to his labor until the evening.
Psalms 104:20-23 Amplified Bible (AMP)
You [O LORD] make darkness and it becomes night, In which prowls about every wild beast of the forest. The young lions roar after their prey And seek their food from God. When the sun arises, they withdraw And lie down in their dens. Man goes out to his work And remains at his labor until evening.
Psalms 104:20-23 New Living Translation (NLT)
You send the darkness, and it becomes night, when all the forest animals prowl about. Then the young lions roar for their prey, stalking the food provided by God. At dawn they slink back into their dens to rest. Then people go off to their work, where they labor until evening.
Psalms 104:20-23 The Passion Translation (TPT)
You turn off the light and it becomes night, and all the beasts of the forest come out to prowl. The mighty lions roar for their dinner, but it’s you, God, who feeds them all. At sunrise they slink back to their dens to crouch down in the shadows. Then man goes out to his labor and toil, working from dawn to dusk.
Psalms 104:20-23 English Standard Version 2016 (ESV)
You make darkness, and it is night, when all the beasts of the forest creep about. The young lions roar for their prey, seeking their food from God. When the sun rises, they steal away and lie down in their dens. Man goes out to his work and to his labor until the evening.
