Proverbs 11:28-30
Proverbs 11:28-30 The Message (MSG)
A life devoted to things is a dead life, a stump; a God-shaped life is a flourishing tree. Exploit or abuse your family, and end up with a fistful of air; common sense tells you it’s a stupid way to live. A good life is a fruit-bearing tree; a violent life destroys souls.
Proverbs 11:28-30 King James Version (KJV)
He that trusteth in his riches shall fall: But the righteous shall flourish as a branch. He that troubleth his own house shall inherit the wind: And the fool shall be servant to the wise of heart. The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life; And he that winneth souls is wise.
Proverbs 11:28-30 New American Standard Bible - NASB 1995 (NASB1995)
He who trusts in his riches will fall, But the righteous will flourish like the green leaf. He who troubles his own house will inherit wind, And the foolish will be servant to the wisehearted. The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life, And he who is wise wins souls.
Proverbs 11:28-30 New Century Version (NCV)
Those who trust in riches will be ruined, but a good person will be healthy like a green leaf. Whoever brings trouble to his family will be left with nothing but the wind. A fool will be a servant to the wise. A good person gives life to others; the wise person teaches others how to live.
Proverbs 11:28-30 American Standard Version (ASV)
He that trusteth in his riches shall fall; But the righteous shall flourish as the green leaf. He that troubleth his own house shall inherit the wind; And the foolish shall be servant to the wise of heart. The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life; And he that is wise winneth souls.
Proverbs 11:28-30 New International Version (NIV)
Those who trust in their riches will fall, but the righteous will thrive like a green leaf. Whoever brings ruin on their family will inherit only wind, and the fool will be servant to the wise. The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life, and the one who is wise saves lives.
Proverbs 11:28-30 New King James Version (NKJV)
He who trusts in his riches will fall, But the righteous will flourish like foliage. He who troubles his own house will inherit the wind, And the fool will be servant to the wise of heart. The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life, And he who wins souls is wise.
Proverbs 11:28-30 Amplified Bible (AMP)
He who leans on and trusts in and is confident in his riches will fall, But the righteous [who trust in God’s provision] will flourish like a green leaf. He who troubles (mismanages) his own house will inherit the wind (nothing), And the foolish will be a servant to the wise-hearted. The fruit of the [consistently] righteous is a tree of life, And he who is wise captures and wins souls [for God—he gathers them for eternity]. [Matt 4:19; 1 Cor 9:19; James 5:20]
Proverbs 11:28-30 New Living Translation (NLT)
Trust in your money and down you go! But the godly flourish like leaves in spring. Those who bring trouble on their families inherit the wind. The fool will be a servant to the wise. The seeds of good deeds become a tree of life; a wise person wins friends.
Proverbs 11:28-30 The Passion Translation (TPT)
Keep trusting in your riches and down you’ll go! But the lovers of God rise up like flowers in the spring. The fool who brings trouble to his own family will be cut out of the will, and the family servant will do better than he. But a life lived loving God bears lasting fruit, for the one who is truly wise wins souls.
Proverbs 11:28-30 English Standard Version 2016 (ESV)
Whoever trusts in his riches will fall, but the righteous will flourish like a green leaf. Whoever troubles his own household will inherit the wind, and the fool will be servant to the wise of heart. The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life, and whoever captures souls is wise.
