Proverbs 10:27-30
Proverbs 10:27-30 The Message (MSG)
The Fear-of-GOD expands your life; a wicked life is a puny life. The aspirations of good people end in celebration; the ambitions of bad people crash. GOD is solid backing to a well-lived life, but he calls into question a shabby performance. Good people last—they can’t be moved; the wicked are here today, gone tomorrow.
Proverbs 10:27-30 King James Version (KJV)
The fear of the LORD prolongeth days: But the years of the wicked shall be shortened. The hope of the righteous shall be gladness: But the expectation of the wicked shall perish. The way of the LORD is strength to the upright: But destruction shall be to the workers of iniquity. The righteous shall never be removed: But the wicked shall not inhabit the earth.
Proverbs 10:27-30 New American Standard Bible - NASB 1995 (NASB1995)
The fear of the LORD prolongs life, But the years of the wicked will be shortened. The hope of the righteous is gladness, But the expectation of the wicked perishes. The way of the LORD is a stronghold to the upright, But ruin to the workers of iniquity. The righteous will never be shaken, But the wicked will not dwell in the land.
Proverbs 10:27-30 New Century Version (NCV)
Whoever respects the LORD will have a long life, but the life of an evil person will be cut short. A good person can look forward to happiness, but an evil person can expect nothing. The LORD will protect good people but will ruin those who do evil. Good people will always be safe, but evil people will not remain in the land.
Proverbs 10:27-30 American Standard Version (ASV)
The fear of Jehovah prolongeth days; But the years of the wicked shall be shortened. The hope of the righteous shall be gladness; But the expectation of the wicked shall perish. The way of Jehovah is a stronghold to the upright; But it is a destruction to the workers of iniquity. The righteous shall never be removed; But the wicked shall not dwell in the land.
Proverbs 10:27-30 New International Version (NIV)
The fear of the LORD adds length to life, but the years of the wicked are cut short. The prospect of the righteous is joy, but the hopes of the wicked come to nothing. The way of the LORD is a refuge for the blameless, but it is the ruin of those who do evil. The righteous will never be uprooted, but the wicked will not remain in the land.
Proverbs 10:27-30 New King James Version (NKJV)
The fear of the LORD prolongs days, But the years of the wicked will be shortened. The hope of the righteous will be gladness, But the expectation of the wicked will perish. The way of the LORD is strength for the upright, But destruction will come to the workers of iniquity. The righteous will never be removed, But the wicked will not inhabit the earth.
Proverbs 10:27-30 Amplified Bible (AMP)
The [reverent] fear of the LORD [worshiping, obeying, serving, and trusting Him with awe-filled respect] prolongs one’s life, But the years of the wicked will be shortened. The hope of the righteous [those of honorable character and integrity] is joy, But the expectation of the wicked [those who oppose God and ignore His wisdom] comes to nothing. The way of the LORD is a stronghold to the upright, But it is ruin to those who do evil. The [consistently] righteous will never be shaken, But the wicked will not inhabit the earth. [Ps 37:22; 125:1]
Proverbs 10:27-30 New Living Translation (NLT)
Fear of the LORD lengthens one’s life, but the years of the wicked are cut short. The hopes of the godly result in happiness, but the expectations of the wicked come to nothing. The way of the LORD is a stronghold to those with integrity, but it destroys the wicked. The godly will never be disturbed, but the wicked will be removed from the land.
Proverbs 10:27-30 The Passion Translation (TPT)
Living in the worship and awe of God will bring you many years of contented living. So how could the wicked ever expect to have a long, happy life? Lovers of God have a joyful feast of gladness, but the ungodly see their hopes vanish right before their eyes. The beautiful ways of God are a safe resting place for those who have integrity. But to those who work wickedness the ways of God spell doom. God’s lover can never be greatly shaken. But the wicked will never inherit the covenant blessings.
Proverbs 10:27-30 English Standard Version 2016 (ESV)
The fear of the LORD prolongs life, but the years of the wicked will be short. The hope of the righteous brings joy, but the expectation of the wicked will perish. The way of the LORD is a stronghold to the blameless, but destruction to evildoers. The righteous will never be removed, but the wicked will not dwell in the land.
