Proverbs 10:25-27
Proverbs 10:25-27 The Message (MSG)
When the storm is over, there’s nothing left of the wicked; good people, firm on their rock foundation, aren’t even fazed. A lazy employee will give you nothing but trouble; it’s vinegar in the mouth, smoke in the eyes. The Fear-of-GOD expands your life; a wicked life is a puny life.
Proverbs 10:25-27 King James Version (KJV)
As the whirlwind passeth, so is the wicked no more: But the righteous is an everlasting foundation. As vinegar to the teeth, and as smoke to the eyes, So is the sluggard to them that send him. The fear of the LORD prolongeth days: But the years of the wicked shall be shortened.
Proverbs 10:25-27 New American Standard Bible - NASB 1995 (NASB1995)
When the whirlwind passes, the wicked is no more, But the righteous has an everlasting foundation. Like vinegar to the teeth and smoke to the eyes, So is the lazy one to those who send him. The fear of the LORD prolongs life, But the years of the wicked will be shortened.
Proverbs 10:25-27 New Century Version (NCV)
A storm will blow the evil person away, but a good person will always be safe. A lazy person affects the one he works for like vinegar on the teeth or smoke in the eyes. Whoever respects the LORD will have a long life, but the life of an evil person will be cut short.
Proverbs 10:25-27 American Standard Version (ASV)
When the whirlwind passeth, the wicked is no more; But the righteous is an everlasting foundation. As vinegar to the teeth, and as smoke to the eyes, So is the sluggard to them that send him. The fear of Jehovah prolongeth days; But the years of the wicked shall be shortened.
Proverbs 10:25-27 New International Version (NIV)
When the storm has swept by, the wicked are gone, but the righteous stand firm forever. As vinegar to the teeth and smoke to the eyes, so are sluggards to those who send them. The fear of the LORD adds length to life, but the years of the wicked are cut short.
Proverbs 10:25-27 New King James Version (NKJV)
When the whirlwind passes by, the wicked is no more, But the righteous has an everlasting foundation. As vinegar to the teeth and smoke to the eyes, So is the lazy man to those who send him. The fear of the LORD prolongs days, But the years of the wicked will be shortened.
Proverbs 10:25-27 Amplified Bible (AMP)
When the whirlwind passes, the wicked is no more, But the righteous has an everlasting foundation. [Ps 125:1; Matt 7:24-27] Like vinegar to the teeth and smoke to the eyes, So is the lazy one to those who send him to work. The [reverent] fear of the LORD [worshiping, obeying, serving, and trusting Him with awe-filled respect] prolongs one’s life, But the years of the wicked will be shortened.
Proverbs 10:25-27 New Living Translation (NLT)
When the storms of life come, the wicked are whirled away, but the godly have a lasting foundation. Lazy people irritate their employers, like vinegar to the teeth or smoke in the eyes. Fear of the LORD lengthens one’s life, but the years of the wicked are cut short.
Proverbs 10:25-27 The Passion Translation (TPT)
The wicked are blown away by every stormy wind. But when a catastrophe comes, the lovers of God have a secure anchor. To trust a lazy person to get a job done will be as irritating as smoke in your eyes— as enjoyable as a toothache! Living in the worship and awe of God will bring you many years of contented living. So how could the wicked ever expect to have a long, happy life?
Proverbs 10:25-27 English Standard Version 2016 (ESV)
When the tempest passes, the wicked is no more, but the righteous is established forever. Like vinegar to the teeth and smoke to the eyes, so is the sluggard to those who send him. The fear of the LORD prolongs life, but the years of the wicked will be short.
