Numbers 21:14-18
Numbers 21:10-18 The Message (MSG)
The People of Israel set out and camped at Oboth. They left Oboth and camped at Iye Abarim in the wilderness that faces Moab on the east. They went from there and pitched camp in the Zered Valley. Their next camp was alongside the Arnon River, which marks the border between Amorite country and Moab. The Book of the Wars of GOD refers to this place: Waheb in Suphah, the canyons of Arnon; Along the canyon ravines that lead to the village Ar And lean hard against the border of Moab. They went on to Beer (The Well), where GOD said to Moses, “Gather the people; I’ll give them water.” That’s where Israel sang this song
Numbers 21:14-18 King James Version (KJV)
Wherefore it is said in the book of the wars of the LORD, What he did in the Red sea, And in the brooks of Arnon, And at the stream of the brooks That goeth down to the dwelling of Ar, And lieth upon the border of Moab. And from thence they went to Beer: that is the well whereof the LORD spake unto Moses, Gather the people together, and I will give them water. Then Israel sang this song, Spring up, O well; sing ye unto it: The princes digged the well, The nobles of the people digged it, By the direction of the lawgiver, with their staves. And from the wilderness they went to Mattanah
Numbers 21:14-18 New American Standard Bible - NASB 1995 (NASB1995)
Therefore it is said in the Book of the Wars of the LORD, “Waheb in Suphah, And the wadis of the Arnon, And the slope of the wadis That extends to the site of Ar, And leans to the border of Moab.” From there they continued to Beer, that is the well where the LORD said to Moses, “Assemble the people, that I may give them water.” Then Israel sang this song: “Spring up, O well! Sing to it! The well, which the leaders sank, Which the nobles of the people dug, With the scepter and with their staffs.” And from the wilderness they continued to Mattanah
Numbers 21:14-18 New Century Version (NCV)
That is why the Book of the Wars of the LORD says: “… and Waheb in Suphah, and the ravines, the Arnon, and the slopes of the ravines that lead to the settlement of Ar. These places are at the border of Moab.” The Israelites went from there to Beer; a well is there where the LORD said to Moses, “Gather the people and I will give them water.” Then the Israelites sang this song: “Pour out water, well! Sing about it. Princes dug this well. Important men made it. With their scepters and poles, they dug it.” The people went from the desert to Mattanah.
Numbers 21:14-18 American Standard Version (ASV)
Wherefore it is said in the book of the Wars of Jehovah, Vaheb in Suphah, And the valleys of the Arnon, And the slope of the valleys That inclineth toward the dwelling of Ar, And leaneth upon the border of Moab. And from thence they journeyed to Beer: that is the well whereof Jehovah said unto Moses, Gather the people together, and I will give them water. Then sang Israel this song: Spring up, O well; sing ye unto it: The well, which the princes digged, Which the nobles of the people delved, With the sceptre, and with their staves. And from the wilderness they journeyed to Mattanah
Numbers 21:14-18 New International Version (NIV)
That is why the Book of the Wars of the LORD says: “…Zahab in Suphah and the ravines, the Arnon and the slopes of the ravines that lead to the settlement of Ar and lie along the border of Moab.” From there they continued on to Beer, the well where the LORD said to Moses, “Gather the people together and I will give them water.” Then Israel sang this song: “Spring up, O well! Sing about it, about the well that the princes dug, that the nobles of the people sank— the nobles with scepters and staffs.” Then they went from the wilderness to Mattanah
Numbers 21:14-18 New King James Version (NKJV)
Therefore it is said in the Book of the Wars of the LORD: “Waheb in Suphah, The brooks of the Arnon, And the slope of the brooks That reaches to the dwelling of Ar, And lies on the border of Moab.” From there they went to Beer, which is the well where the LORD said to Moses, “Gather the people together, and I will give them water.” Then Israel sang this song: “Spring up, O well! All of you sing to it— The well the leaders sank, Dug by the nation’s nobles, By the lawgiver, with their staves.” And from the wilderness they went to Mattanah
Numbers 21:14-18 Amplified Bible (AMP)
That is why it is said in the Book of the Wars of the LORD: “Waheb in Suphah, And the wadis of the Arnon [River], And the slope of the wadis That stretches toward the site of Ar And leans to the border of Moab.” From there the Israelites went on to Beer, that is the well where the LORD said to Moses, “Gather the people together and I will give them water.” [John 7:37-39] Then Israel sang this song, “Spring up, O well! Sing to it, [Rom 14:17] The well which the leaders dug, Which the nobles of the people hollowed out With the scepter and with their staffs.” And from the wilderness Israel journeyed to Mattanah
Numbers 21:14-18 New Living Translation (NLT)
For this reason The Book of the Wars of the LORD speaks of “the town of Waheb in the area of Suphah, and the ravines of the Arnon River, and the ravines that extend as far as the settlement of Ar on the border of Moab.” From there the Israelites traveled to Beer, which is the well where the LORD said to Moses, “Assemble the people, and I will give them water.” There the Israelites sang this song: “Spring up, O well! Yes, sing its praises! Sing of this well, which princes dug, which great leaders hollowed out with their scepters and staffs.”
Numbers 21:14-18 English Standard Version 2016 (ESV)
Therefore it is said in the Book of the Wars of the LORD, “Waheb in Suphah, and the valleys of the Arnon, and the slope of the valleys that extends to the seat of Ar, and leans to the border of Moab.” And from there they continued to Beer; that is the well of which the LORD said to Moses, “Gather the people together, so that I may give them water.” Then Israel sang this song: “Spring up, O well!—Sing to it!— the well that the princes made, that the nobles of the people dug, with the scepter and with their staffs.”
