Jeremiah 22:23
Jeremiah 22:20-23 The Message (MSG)
“People of Jerusalem, climb a Lebanon peak and weep, climb a Bashan mountain and wail, Climb the Abarim ridge and cry— you’ve made a total mess of your life. I spoke to you when everything was going your way. You said, ‘I’m not interested.’ You’ve been that way as long as I’ve known you, never listened to a thing I said. All your leaders will be blown away, all your friends end up in exile, And you’ll find yourself in the gutter, disgraced by your evil life. You big-city people thought you were so important, thought you were ‘king of the mountain’! You’re soon going to be doubled up in pain, pain worse than the pangs of childbirth. * * *
Jeremiah 22:23 King James Version (KJV)
O inhabitant of Lebanon, that makest thy nest in the cedars, how gracious shalt thou be when pangs come upon thee, the pain as of a woman in travail!
Jeremiah 22:23 New American Standard Bible - NASB 1995 (NASB1995)
You who dwell in Lebanon, Nested in the cedars, How you will groan when pangs come upon you, Pain like a woman in childbirth!
Jeremiah 22:23 New Century Version (NCV)
King, you live in your palace, cozy in your rooms of cedar. But when your punishment comes, how you will groan like a woman giving birth to a baby!
Jeremiah 22:23 American Standard Version (ASV)
O inhabitant of Lebanon, that makest thy nest in the cedars, how greatly to be pitied shalt thou be when pangs come upon thee, the pain as of a woman in travail!
Jeremiah 22:23 New International Version (NIV)
You who live in ‘Lebanon,’ who are nestled in cedar buildings, how you will groan when pangs come upon you, pain like that of a woman in labor!
Jeremiah 22:23 New King James Version (NKJV)
O inhabitant of Lebanon, Making your nest in the cedars, How gracious will you be when pangs come upon you, Like the pain of a woman in labor?
Jeremiah 22:23 Amplified Bible (AMP)
O inhabitant of [Jerusalem, whose palaces are made from the cedars of] Lebanon, You who nest in the cedars, How you will groan and how miserable you will be when pains come on you, Pain like a woman in childbirth!
