Ezekiel 4:15-17
Ezekiel 4:15-17 The Message (MSG)
“All right,” he said. “I’ll let you bake your bread over cow dung instead of human dung.” Then he said to me, “Son of man, I’m going to cut off all food from Jerusalem. The people will live on starvation rations, worrying where the next meal’s coming from, scrounging for the next drink of water. Famine conditions. People will look at one another, see nothing but skin and bones, and shake their heads. This is what sin does.”
Ezekiel 4:15-17 King James Version (KJV)
Then he said unto me, Lo, I have given thee cow's dung for man's dung, and thou shalt prepare thy bread therewith. Moreover he said unto me, Son of man, behold, I will break the staff of bread in Jerusalem: and they shall eat bread by weight, and with care; and they shall drink water by measure, and with astonishment: that they may want bread and water, and be astonied one with another, and consume away for their iniquity.
Ezekiel 4:15-17 New American Standard Bible - NASB 1995 (NASB1995)
Then He said to me, “See, I will give you cow’s dung in place of human dung over which you will prepare your bread.” Moreover, He said to me, “Son of man, behold, I am going to break the staff of bread in Jerusalem, and they will eat bread by weight and with anxiety, and drink water by measure and in horror, because bread and water will be scarce; and they will be appalled with one another and waste away in their iniquity.
Ezekiel 4:15-17 New Century Version (NCV)
“Very well,” he said. “Then I will give you cow’s dung instead of human dung to use for your fire to bake your bread.” He also said to me, “Human, I am going to cut off the supply of bread to Jerusalem. They will eat the bread that is measured out to them, and they will worry as they eat. They will drink water that is measured out to them, and they will be in shock as they drink it. This is because bread and water will be hard to find. The people will be shocked at the sight of each other, and they will become weak because of their sin.
Ezekiel 4:15-17 American Standard Version (ASV)
Then he said unto me, See, I have given thee cow’s dung for man’s dung, and thou shalt prepare thy bread thereon. Moreover he said unto me, Son of man, behold, I will break the staff of bread in Jerusalem: and they shall eat bread by weight, and with fearfulness; and they shall drink water by measure, and in dismay: that they may want bread and water, and be dismayed one with another, and pine away in their iniquity.
Ezekiel 4:15-17 New International Version (NIV)
“Very well,” he said, “I will let you bake your bread over cow dung instead of human excrement.” He then said to me: “Son of man, I am about to cut off the food supply in Jerusalem. The people will eat rationed food in anxiety and drink rationed water in despair, for food and water will be scarce. They will be appalled at the sight of each other and will waste away because of their sin.
Ezekiel 4:15-17 New King James Version (NKJV)
Then He said to me, “See, I am giving you cow dung instead of human waste, and you shall prepare your bread over it.” Moreover He said to me, “Son of man, surely I will cut off the supply of bread in Jerusalem; they shall eat bread by weight and with anxiety, and shall drink water by measure and with dread, that they may lack bread and water, and be dismayed with one another, and waste away because of their iniquity.

Ezekiel 4:15-17 New Living Translation (NLT)
“All right,” the LORD said. “You may bake your bread with cow dung instead of human dung.” Then he told me, “Son of man, I will make food very scarce in Jerusalem. It will be weighed out with great care and eaten fearfully. The water will be rationed out drop by drop, and the people will drink it with dismay. Lacking food and water, people will look at one another in terror, and they will waste away under their punishment.

In their horrible distress, the food they eat and the water they drink will be rationed. They will watch as it all runs out and look at each other in total despair. And they will slowly die of starvation because of their guilt.”

I will do this that they may lack bread and water, and look at one another in dismay, and rot away because of their punishment.
