Ezekiel 35:5-10
Ezekiel 35:5-10 King James Version (KJV)
Because thou hast had a perpetual hatred, and hast shed the blood of the children of Israel by the force of the sword in the time of their calamity, in the time that their iniquity had an end: therefore, as I live, saith the Lord GOD, I will prepare thee unto blood, and blood shall pursue thee: sith thou hast not hated blood, even blood shall pursue thee. Thus will I make mount Seir most desolate, and cut off from it him that passeth out and him that returneth. And I will fill his mountains with his slain men: in thy hills, and in thy valleys, and in all thy rivers, shall they fall that are slain with the sword. I will make thee perpetual desolations, and thy cities shall not return: and ye shall know that I am the LORD. Because thou hast said, These two nations and these two countries shall be mine, and we will possess it; whereas the LORD was there
Ezekiel 35:5-10 New International Version (NIV)
“ ‘Because you harbored an ancient hostility and delivered the Israelites over to the sword at the time of their calamity, the time their punishment reached its climax, therefore as surely as I live, declares the Sovereign LORD, I will give you over to bloodshed and it will pursue you. Since you did not hate bloodshed, bloodshed will pursue you. I will make Mount Seir a desolate waste and cut off from it all who come and go. I will fill your mountains with the slain; those killed by the sword will fall on your hills and in your valleys and in all your ravines. I will make you desolate forever; your towns will not be inhabited. Then you will know that I am the LORD. “ ‘Because you have said, “These two nations and countries will be ours and we will take possession of them,” even though I the LORD was there
Ezekiel 35:5-10 New Living Translation (NLT)
“Your eternal hatred for the people of Israel led you to butcher them when they were helpless, when I had already punished them for all their sins. As surely as I live, says the Sovereign LORD, since you show no distaste for blood, I will give you a bloodbath of your own. Your turn has come! I will make Mount Seir utterly desolate, killing off all who try to escape and any who return. I will fill your mountains with the dead. Your hills, your valleys, and your ravines will be filled with people slaughtered by the sword. I will make you desolate forever. Your cities will never be rebuilt. Then you will know that I am the LORD. “For you said, ‘The lands of Israel and Judah will be ours. We will take possession of them. What do we care that the LORD is there!’
Ezekiel 35:5-10 English Standard Version 2016 (ESV)
Because you cherished perpetual enmity and gave over the people of Israel to the power of the sword at the time of their calamity, at the time of their final punishment, therefore, as I live, declares the Lord GOD, I will prepare you for blood, and blood shall pursue you; because you did not hate bloodshed, therefore blood shall pursue you. I will make Mount Seir a waste and a desolation, and I will cut off from it all who come and go. And I will fill its mountains with the slain. On your hills and in your valleys and in all your ravines those slain with the sword shall fall. I will make you a perpetual desolation, and your cities shall not be inhabited. Then you will know that I am the LORD. “Because you said, ‘These two nations and these two countries shall be mine, and we will take possession of them’—although the LORD was there
Ezekiel 35:5-13 The Message (MSG)
“‘I’m doing this because you’ve kept this age-old grudge going against Israel: You viciously attacked them when they were already down, looking their final punishment in the face. Therefore, as sure as I am the living God, I’m lining you up for a real bloodbath. Since you loved blood so much, you’ll be chased by rivers of blood. I’ll reduce Mount Seir to a heap of rubble. No one will either come or go from that place! I’ll blanket your mountains with corpses. Massacred bodies will cover your hills and fill up your valleys and ditches. I’ll reduce you to ruins and all your towns will be ghost towns—population zero. Then you’ll realize that I am GOD. “‘Because you said, “These two nations, these two countries, are mine. I’m taking over” (even though GOD is right there watching, right there listening), I’ll turn your hate-bloated anger and rage right back on you. You’ll know I mean business when I bring judgment on you. You’ll realize then that I, GOD, have overheard all the vile abuse you’ve poured out against the mountains of Israel, saying, “They’re roadkill and we’re going to eat them up.” You’ve strutted around, talking so big, insolently pitting yourselves against me. And I’ve heard it all.
Ezekiel 35:5-10 New American Standard Bible - NASB 1995 (NASB1995)
Because you have had everlasting enmity and have delivered the sons of Israel to the power of the sword at the time of their calamity, at the time of the punishment of the end, therefore as I live,” declares the Lord GOD, “I will give you over to bloodshed, and bloodshed will pursue you; since you have not hated bloodshed, therefore bloodshed will pursue you. I will make Mount Seir a waste and a desolation and I will cut off from it the one who passes through and returns. I will fill its mountains with its slain; on your hills and in your valleys and in all your ravines those slain by the sword will fall. I will make you an everlasting desolation and your cities will not be inhabited. Then you will know that I am the LORD. “Because you have said, ‘These two nations and these two lands will be mine, and we will possess them,’ although the LORD was there
Ezekiel 35:5-10 New Century Version (NCV)
“ ‘You have always been an enemy of Israel. You let them be defeated in war when they were in trouble at the time of their final punishment. So the Lord GOD says, as surely as I live, I will let you be murdered. Murder will chase you. Since you did not hate murdering people, murder will chase you. I will make Edom an empty ruin and destroy everyone who goes in or comes out of it. I will fill its mountains with those who are killed. Those killed in war will fall on your hills, in your valleys, and in all your ravines. I will make you a ruin forever; no one will live in your cities. Then you will know that I am the LORD. “ ‘You said, “These two nations, Israel and Judah, and these two lands will be ours. We will take them for our own.” But the LORD was there.
Ezekiel 35:5-10 American Standard Version (ASV)
Because thou hast had a perpetual enmity, and hast given over the children of Israel to the power of the sword in the time of their calamity, in the time of the iniquity of the end; therefore, as I live, saith the Lord Jehovah, I will prepare thee unto blood, and blood shall pursue thee: since thou hast not hated blood, therefore blood shall pursue thee. Thus will I make mount Seir an astonishment and a desolation; and I will cut off from it him that passeth through and him that returneth. And I will fill its mountains with its slain: in thy hills and in thy valleys and in all thy watercourses shall they fall that are slain with the sword. I will make thee a perpetual desolation, and thy cities shall not be inhabited; and ye shall know that I am Jehovah. Because thou hast said, These two nations and these two countries shall be mine, and we will possess it; whereas Jehovah was there
Ezekiel 35:5-10 New King James Version (NKJV)

Thus I will make Mount Seir most desolate, and cut off from it the one who leaves and the one who returns. And I will fill its mountains with the slain; on your hills and in your valleys and in all your ravines those who are slain by the sword shall fall. I will make you perpetually desolate, and your cities shall be uninhabited; then you shall know that I am the LORD. “Because you have said, ‘These two nations and these two countries shall be mine, and we will possess them,’ although the LORD was there
Ezekiel 35:5-10 Amplified Bible (AMP)
Because you [descendants of Esau] have had an everlasting hatred [for Jacob (Israel)] and you handed over the sons of Israel to the power of the sword at the time of their tragedy, at the time of their final punishment [the Babylonian conquest], [Ezek 25:12-14; 36:5] therefore, as I live,” says the Lord GOD, “I will hand you over to bloodshed, and bloodshed will pursue you since you have not hated bloodshed, bloodshed will pursue you. I will make Mount Seir (Edom) a ruin and a desolate wasteland and I will cut off from it the one who passes through it and the one who returns. I will fill its mountains with its slain; those killed by the sword will fall on your hills, and in your valleys, and in all your ravines. I will make you an everlasting desolation and your cities will not be inhabited. Then you will know [without any doubt] that I am the LORD. “Because you [descendants of Esau] have said, ‘These two nations [Israel and Judah] and these two lands shall be mine, and we will take possession of them,’ although the LORD was there
Ezekiel 35:5-10 The Passion Translation (TPT)
You have been an enemy of Israel for a very long time. You betrayed the Israelites and gave them over to be slaughtered at the time of their calamity, the crucial moment of their final punishment. Therefore, as surely as I live—declares Lord YAHWEH—I will let you be murdered. Murder will chase you down. Because you did not despise bloodshed, bloodshed will hunt you down! “ ‘I will make Mount Seir a desolate waste, and I will kill anyone who travels through it. I will cover its mountains with the corpses of those who die in war. Yes, the bodies of those killed in battle will lie scattered over all your hills, valleys, and ravines. Your entire land will lie in ruins; your towns will never be inhabited again. And then you will know that I am YAHWEH. “ ‘You said: “Let’s take possession of these two countries, Judah and Israel. They are ours for the taking,” even though the land belongs to me, YAHWEH.
