2 Thessalonians 3:6-7,11
2 Thessalonians 3:6-7 New International Version (NIV)
In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, we command you, brothers and sisters, to keep away from every believer who is idle and disruptive and does not live according to the teaching you received from us. For you yourselves know how you ought to follow our example. We were not idle when we were with you
2 Thessalonians 3:11 New International Version (NIV)
We hear that some among you are idle and disruptive. They are not busy; they are busybodies.
2 Thessalonians 3:6-7 New King James Version (NKJV)
But we command you, brethren, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you withdraw from every brother who walks disorderly and not according to the tradition which he received from us. For you yourselves know how you ought to follow us, for we were not disorderly among you
II Thessalonians 3:11 New King James Version (NKJV)
For we hear that there are some who walk among you in a disorderly manner, not working at all, but are busybodies.
2 Thessalonians 3:6-9 The Message (MSG)
Our orders—backed up by the Master, Jesus—are to refuse to have anything to do with those among you who are lazy and refuse to work the way we taught you. Don’t permit them to freeload on the rest. We showed you how to pull your weight when we were with you, so get on with it. We didn’t sit around on our hands expecting others to take care of us. In fact, we worked our fingers to the bone, up half the night moonlighting so you wouldn’t be burdened with taking care of us. And it wasn’t because we didn’t have a right to your support; we did. We simply wanted to provide an example of diligence, hoping it would prove contagious.
2 Thessalonians 3:10-13 The Message (MSG)
Don’t you remember the rule we had when we lived with you? “If you don’t work, you don’t eat.” And now we’re getting reports that a bunch of lazy good-for-nothings are taking advantage of you. This must not be tolerated. We command them to get to work immediately—no excuses, no arguments—and earn their own keep. Friends, don’t slack off in doing your duty.
2 Thessalonians 3:6-7 King James Version (KJV)
Now we command you, brethren, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye withdraw yourselves from every brother that walketh disorderly, and not after the tradition which he received of us. For yourselves know how ye ought to follow us: for we behaved not ourselves disorderly among you
2 Thessalonians 3:11 King James Version (KJV)
For we hear that there are some which walk among you disorderly, working not at all, but are busybodies.
2 Thessalonians 3:6-7 New American Standard Bible - NASB 1995 (NASB1995)
Now we command you, brethren, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you keep away from every brother who leads an unruly life and not according to the tradition which you received from us. For you yourselves know how you ought to follow our example, because we did not act in an undisciplined manner among you
2 Thessalonians 3:11 New American Standard Bible - NASB 1995 (NASB1995)
For we hear that some among you are leading an undisciplined life, doing no work at all, but acting like busybodies.
2 Thessalonians 3:6-7 New Century Version (NCV)
Brothers and sisters, by the authority of our Lord Jesus Christ we command you to stay away from any believer who refuses to work and does not follow the teaching we gave you. You yourselves know that you should live as we live. We were not lazy when we were with you.
2 Thessalonians 3:11 New Century Version (NCV)
We hear that some people in your group refuse to work. They do nothing but busy themselves in other people’s lives.
2 Thessalonians 3:6-7 American Standard Version (ASV)
Now we command you, brethren, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye withdraw yourselves from every brother that walketh disorderly, and not after the tradition which they received of us. For yourselves know how ye ought to imitate us: for we behaved not ourselves disorderly among you
2 Thessalonians 3:11 American Standard Version (ASV)
For we hear of some that walk among you disorderly, that work not at all, but are busybodies.
2 Thessalonians 3:6-7 Amplified Bible (AMP)
Now we command you, believers, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ and by His authority, that you withdraw and keep away from every brother or sister who leads an undisciplined life and does not live in accordance with the tradition and teaching that you have received from us. For you yourselves know how you ought to follow our example, because we did not act in an undisciplined or inappropriate manner when we were with you [we were never idle or lazy, nor did we avoid our duties]
2 Thessalonians 3:11 Amplified Bible (AMP)
Indeed, we hear that some among you are leading an undisciplined and inappropriate life, doing no work at all, but acting like busybodies [meddling in other people’s business].
2 Thessalonians 3:6-7 New Living Translation (NLT)
And now, dear brothers and sisters, we give you this command in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ: Stay away from all believers who live idle lives and don’t follow the tradition they received from us. For you know that you ought to imitate us. We were not idle when we were with you.
2 Thessalonians 3:11 New Living Translation (NLT)
Yet we hear that some of you are living idle lives, refusing to work and meddling in other people’s business.
2 Thessalonians 3:6-7 The Passion Translation (TPT)
Beloved brothers and sisters, we instruct you, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, to stay away from believers who are unruly and who stray from all that we have taught you. For you know very well that you should order your lives after our example, because we were not undisciplined when we were with you.
2 Thessalonians 3:11 The Passion Translation (TPT)
Now, we hear rumors that some of you are being lazy and neglecting to work—that these people are not busy but busybodies!
2 Thessalonians 3:6-7 English Standard Version 2016 (ESV)
Now we command you, brothers, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you keep away from any brother who is walking in idleness and not in accord with the tradition that you received from us. For you yourselves know how you ought to imitate us, because we were not idle when we were with you
