1 Corinthians 1:26,31
1 Corinthians 1:26-31 The Message (MSG)
Take a good look, friends, at who you were when you got called into this life. I don’t see many of “the brightest and the best” among you, not many influential, not many from high-society families. Isn’t it obvious that God deliberately chose men and women that the culture overlooks and exploits and abuses, chose these “nobodies” to expose the hollow pretensions of the “somebodies”? That makes it quite clear that none of you can get by with blowing your own horn before God. Everything that we have—right thinking and right living, a clean slate and a fresh start—comes from God by way of Jesus Christ. That’s why we have the saying, “If you’re going to blow a horn, blow a trumpet for God.”

1 Corinthians 1:26 King James Version (KJV)
For ye see your calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called
1 Corinthians 1:31 King James Version (KJV)
that, according as it is written, He that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord.
1 Corinthians 1:26 New American Standard Bible - NASB 1995 (NASB1995)
For consider your calling, brethren, that there were not many wise according to the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble
1 Corinthians 1:31 New American Standard Bible - NASB 1995 (NASB1995)
so that, just as it is written, “LET HIM WHO BOASTS, BOAST IN THE LORD.”
1 Corinthians 1:26 New Century Version (NCV)
Brothers and sisters, look at what you were when God called you. Not many of you were wise in the way the world judges wisdom. Not many of you had great influence. Not many of you came from important families.
1 Corinthians 1:31 New Century Version (NCV)
So, as the Scripture says, “If people want to brag, they should brag only about the Lord.”
1 Corinthians 1:26 American Standard Version (ASV)
For behold your calling, brethren, that not many wise after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called
1 Corinthians 1:31 American Standard Version (ASV)
that, according as it is written, He that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord.
1 Corinthians 1:26 New International Version (NIV)
Brothers and sisters, think of what you were when you were called. Not many of you were wise by human standards; not many were influential; not many were of noble birth.
1 Corinthians 1:31 New International Version (NIV)
Therefore, as it is written: “Let the one who boasts boast in the Lord.”
1 Corinthians 1:26 New King James Version (NKJV)
For you see your calling, brethren, that not many wise according to the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called.
I Corinthians 1:31 New King James Version (NKJV)
that, as it is written, “He who glories, let him glory in the LORD.”
1 Corinthians 1:26 Amplified Bible (AMP)
Just look at your own calling, believers; not many [of you were considered] wise according to human standards, not many powerful or influential, not many of high and noble birth.
1 Corinthians 1:31 Amplified Bible (AMP)
so then, as it is written [in Scripture], “HE WHO BOASTS and GLORIES, LET HIM BOAST and GLORY IN THE LORD.” [Jer 9:24]
1 Corinthians 1:26 New Living Translation (NLT)
Remember, dear brothers and sisters, that few of you were wise in the world’s eyes or powerful or wealthy when God called you.
1 Corinthians 1:31 New Living Translation (NLT)
Therefore, as the Scriptures say, “If you want to boast, boast only about the LORD.”
1 Corinthians 1:26 The Passion Translation (TPT)
Brothers and sisters, consider who you were when God called you to salvation. Not many of you were wise scholars by human standards, nor were many of you in positions of power. Not many of you were considered the elite when you answered God’s call.
1 Corinthians 1:31 The Passion Translation (TPT)
And this fulfills what is written: If anyone boasts, let him only boast in all that the Lord has done!
