1. Mosebok 17:12-13

I slekt etter slekt skal hvert guttebarn hos dere omskjæres når det er åtte dager gammelt, både de som er født i huset, og de som er kjøpt for penger hos fremmede, som ikke er av din ætt. Omskjæres skal både de som er født i ditt hus, og de du har kjøpt for penger. Slik skal min pakt vise seg på kroppen deres, en evig pakt.
