He gathered such massive quantities of produce that he gave up trying to measure it all, for it was like counting the sand on the seashore. Prior to the famine, Joseph and Asenath, daughter of Potiphera, priest of Heliopolis, had two sons. Joseph named the firstborn Manasseh, saying, “God has made me forget all my troubles and my parental home.” The second he named Ephraim, saying, “God has made me fruitful in the land of my suffering.”
