Tell them, ‘As I live #— #this is the declaration of the Lord GOD #— #I take no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but rather that the wicked person should turn from his way and live. Repent, repent of your evil ways! Why will you die, house of Israel? ’ “Now, son of man, say to your people, ‘The righteousness of the righteous person will not save him on the day of his transgression; neither will the wickedness of the wicked person cause him to stumble on the day he turns from his wickedness. The righteous person won’t be able to survive by his righteousness on the day he sins. When I tell the righteous person that he will surely live, but he trusts in his righteousness and acts unjustly, then none of his righteousness will be remembered, and he will die because of the injustice he has committed. “ ‘So when I tell the wicked person, “You will surely die,” but he repents of his sin and does what is just and right #— # he returns collateral, makes restitution for what he has stolen, and walks in the statutes of life without committing injustice #— #he will certainly live; he will not die. None of the sins he committed will be held against him. He has done what is just and right; he will certainly live.

Don’t get over it. Get through it. Dr. Carol Peters-Tanksley helps you discover your unique path through the grieving process in this powerful fourteen-day journey.
The Revelation of Jesus Christ is a book about what will happen in the future; but perhaps more importantly, it’s a book about who controls the future. More than sixty years after Jesus rose from the dead, He appears once again to His disciple John to tell him about the things to come. John sees Jesus in a whole new way: He is now risen, glorified, and clearly in charge of the universe. Jesus is Lord of everyone, everywhere, forever. The question for you and me is whether we will trust Him with our lives, believing that He holds both the present and the future in His all-powerful and loving hands.
Some people joke that they’d rather be in hell drinking with their buddies than in heaven with stuffy saints. But these people are completely blind to its reality and meaning. Hell is real, and we’d better take it seriously. The Bible does not describe hell to scare us, but to warn us. And that is also the purpose of this reading plan!
