Proverbs 13

13
1A wise son responds to his father’s discipline,
but a mocker doesn’t listen to rebuke.
2From the fruit of his mouth,
a person will enjoy good things,  # 13:2 Pr 12:14

but the wicked bring disgust and shame.

but a poor person hears no threat.
9The light of the righteous shines brightly,  # 13:9 Pr 4:18

10Arrogance leads to nothing but strife,  # 13:10 Pr 17:19
but wisdom is gained by those who take advice.

12Hope delayed makes the heart sick,

15Good sense wins favor,  # 13:15 Pr 3:4

16Every sensible person acts knowledgeably,

17A wicked envoy falls into trouble,

18Poverty and disgrace come to those
who ignore discipline,

19Desire fulfilled is sweet to the taste,
but to turn from evil is detestable to fools.  # 13:19 Pr 16:22; 29:27
20The one who walks with the wise will become wise,
but a companion of fools will suffer harm.
21Disaster pursues sinners,

23The uncultivated field of the poor yields abundant food,
but without justice, it is swept away.

25A righteous person eats until he is satisfied,
but the stomach of the wicked is empty.  # 13:25 Pr 10:3
