On the third day, Esther dressed in her royal clothing and stood in the inner courtyard of the palace facing it. The king was sitting on his royal throne in the royal courtroom, facing its entrance. As soon as the king saw Queen Esther standing in the courtyard, she gained favor with him. The king extended the gold scepter in his hand toward Esther, and she approached and touched the tip of the scepter. “What is it, Queen Esther? ” the king asked her. “Whatever you want, even to half the kingdom, will be given to you.” “If it pleases the king,” Esther replied, “may the king and Haman come today to the banquet I have prepared for them.” The king said, “Hurry, and get Haman so we can do as Esther has requested.” So the king and Haman went to the banquet Esther had prepared. While drinking the wine, the king asked Esther, “Whatever you ask will be given to you. Whatever you want, even to half the kingdom, will be done.” Esther answered, “This is my petition and my request: If I have found favor in the eyes of the king, and if it pleases the king to grant my petition and perform my request, may the king and Haman come to the banquet I will prepare for them. Tomorrow I will do what the king has asked.”

Are you weary? Worn out by the bills that keep stacking or a heart that keeps aching? If so, the book of Esther brings welcome news: Relief will come! Though God never promised us a life without trials, he does promise to be with us as we walk through them. In this 5-day plan, you'll learn to trust that God can redeem your struggles for a mighty purpose.
These five daily devotions are based on Lynn Cowell's and Amy Carroll's book, Esther: Seeing Our Invisible God in an Uncertain World. Though she lived centuries ago, Esther speaks to us when we run into limited control and resources. We find in her a strength and fortitude you and I need today. A strength we discover as we follow her process of listen, feel, do, and speak.
Experience Christmas through the eyes of well-known Bible characters. This 5-day plan features Mary Magdalene, the Gospel writer Luke, Queen Esther, the Boy with the Miraculous Lunch, and the Inn Keeper, who had no room for Jesus. Get inspired by their reflections on True Freedom, Real Love, Deep Hope, Big Faith, and Genuine Peace.
