¶But [in apparent contradiction of all this] You [the faithful LORD] have cast off and rejected; You have been full of wrath against Your anointed. You have spurned and repudiated the covenant with Your servant; You have profaned his crown [by casting it] in the dust. You have broken down all his [city] walls; You have brought his strongholds to ruin. All who pass along the road rob him; He has become the scorn of his neighbors. You have exalted the right hand of his foes; You have made all his enemies rejoice. Also, You have turned back the edge of his sword And have not made him [strong enough] to stand in battle. You have put an end to his splendor And have hurled his throne to the ground. You have shortened the days of his youth; You have covered him with shame. Selah. ¶How long, O LORD? Will You hide Yourself forever? Will Your wrath burn like fire?

This is the fourth part of a reading plan through the Bible following the lectionary pattern of reading in the Psalms, Old Testament, and New Testament each day. In addition, this part of the plan will also focus on our only comfort in life and death from questions 1 & 2 of the Heidelberg Catechism.
Fear touches every life—whether through childhood worries, family anxieties, or mistakes we try to avoid. But Advent invites us to hope for a new reality ruled by peace, not fear. The Son of God entered our broken world to comfort us, overcome fear, and bring lasting peace. May His gospel of peace fill your heart throughout this Advent season! This month’s reading plan follows the lectionary pattern with daily passages from the Psalms, Old Testament, and New Testament, accompanied by Advent devotionals in partnership with 1517.org on the theme of Peace.
This is the thirteenth installment of a Bible reading plan following the lectionary pattern, offering daily readings from the Psalms, Old Testament, and New Testament. Each day includes a devotional primer to help prepare your heart and mind for a deeper, more meaningful encounter with Scripture. Additionally, as we commemorate the 1,700-year anniversary of the Nicene Creed this year, this plan provides a daily focus to help us understand and celebrate this foundational confession of our Christian faith.
