“You will be filled with disgrace instead of honor. Now drink and expose your own nakedness! The cup [of wrath] in the LORD’S right hand will come around to you [O destroyer], And utter disgrace will be on your own glory. [Rev 16:19] “For the violence done to Lebanon will overwhelm you; The destruction of the animals will terrify you On account of human bloodshed and the violence done to the land, To the city and all its inhabitants. ¶“What profit is the carved image when its maker has formed it? It is only a cast image, and a teacher of lies. For its maker trusts in his own creation [as his god] When he makes speechless idols. “Woe (judgment is coming) to him who says to the wooden image, ‘Awake!’ And to the speechless stone, ‘Arise!’ And that is your teacher? Look, it is overlaid with gold and silver, And there is no breath at all inside it. “But the LORD is in His holy temple. Let all the earth hush and be silent before Him.” [Zeph 1:7; Zech 2:13]

Life often doesn’t seem fair. Injustice, violence and inequality are everywhere. The rich and the powerful seem to be winning. And the average man or woman in the street, trying to live a good life… what’s in it for them? Join Author Berni Dymet from Christianityworks to ask the question, When will God finally show up? You might be surprised by the answer!
As destruction unfolds around him, Habakkuk questions God and His plans. God’s response to Habakkuk reminds us that He alone orders the unfolding of history. Those who are righteous will have faith in His plans (Habakkuk 2:3). Despite the darkness of the season, we too can “rejoice in the Lord” and “take joy in the God of our salvation” (Habakkuk 3:18).
Finding gratitude can feel almost impossible in challenging seasons. This three-day plan, Thankful through the Struggle, invites you to discover God’s presence and provision even in the hardest times. Through the prayers of Habakkuk, you’ll be reminded that gratitude in prayer can forge a pathway to peace.
