Psalmen 30:6

Is your life characterized by joy? If you’re not sure exactly what that means or would look like, spend the next four days learning from theologian Eugene H. Peterson. Peterson, an author, biblical scholar, and pastor, uncovers the essential nature of joy to the Christian experience. His example, in life as well as in death, was characterized by joy. Find yourself renewed, springing forth no matter the circumstances.

How can we continually receive God’s joy, comfort, and hope in the midst of physical or emotional suffering? Joni Eareckson Tada, who uses a wheelchair and is a cancer survivor, offers insights from Carmelite monk Brother Lawrence as well as from her own experiences in this powerful devotional.

I wrote this plan while caring for my father, who battled cancer, and my mother, who faced early-onset dementia. In that season, God equipped me with strength for the battle, and my prayer is that through this plan, He equips you too. This five-day devotional will help you seek God first, trust Him with the unknown, purify your foundation, find rest, and remember that every battle has an end.

Everybody has a 3 a.m. list. The problem you can’t fix, the conversation you keep replaying, the thing you’d never say out loud. Psalm 30 was written by a man with the same list. Over five days we’ll walk through his confession, his honesty, and the moment God untied his grief and handed him a song. Bring what’s keeping you up.
