Saying 20
1Be not envious of evil men,
nor desire to be with them, # Ps 37:1; Pr 3:31
2for their heart devises violence,
and their lips talk of trouble. # Job 15:35; Ps 10:7

3By wisdom a house is built, # Pr 9:1; 14:1
and by understanding it is established;
4by knowledge the rooms are filled
with all precious and pleasant riches.

5A wise man is strong,
and a man of knowledge increases strength, # Pr 21:22
6for by wise counsel will you wage your war,
and in the multitude of counselors there is victory. # Pr 11:14; 20:18

13My son, eat honey, for it is good,

14So will the knowledge of wisdom be to your soul;
if you find it, there will be a future,

Saying 27
15Lay not in wait, O wicked man, against the dwelling of the righteous;
plunder not his resting place,
16for a righteous man falls seven times and rises again, # Job 5:19; Ps 37:24
but the wicked are overthrown in evil.

17Rejoice not when your enemy falls,

21My son, fear the Lord and the king, # Ro 13:1–7
and do not associate with those given to change,
22for their calamity will rise suddenly,
and who knows the ruin those two can bring?
