For the Music Director. With stringed instruments. According to The Sheminith. A Psalm of David.
1O Lord, do not rebuke me in Your anger,
nor discipline me in the heat of Your anger. # Ps 38:1
2Be gracious to me, O Lord, for I am weak;
O Lord, heal me, # Ps 30:2; Hos 6:1 for my bones are shaking.
3My soul is greatly troubled, # Jn 12:27
but You, O Lord—how long? # Ps 90:13
4Return, O Lord, rescue my soul. # Ps 17:13
Save me for the sake of Your lovingkindness.
5For in death there is no remembrance of You;
in Sheol who will give You thanks? # Ps 30:9; 88:10–12
6I am weary with my groaning; # Ps 69:3
all night I flood my bed with tears;
I drench my couch with my weeping. # Ps 42:3
7My eyes waste away from grief; # Job 17:7; Ps 38:10
they grow weak because of all my enemies.
8Depart from me, all you workers of iniquity; # Ps 119:115; Mt 7:23
for the Lord has heard the voice of my weeping.
9The Lord has heard my supplication;
the Lord accepts my prayer. # Ps 66:19–20
10May all my enemies be ashamed and greatly troubled;
may they turn back and be suddenly ashamed. # Ps 71:13
