The Great Day of the Lord
1Surely the day is coming, burning like an oven; all the proud, yes, all evildoers will be stubble. The day that is coming will burn them up, # Isa 5:24; 47:14 says the Lord of Hosts, so that it will leave them neither root nor branch. 2But for you who fear My name, the sun of righteousness will rise with healing # Isa 30:26; Lk 1:78 in its wings. You will go out and grow up like calves from the stall. 3And you will tread down the wicked, # Job 40:12; Isa 26:6 for they will be ashes under the soles of your feet, on the day when I do this, says the Lord of Hosts.
4Remember the Law of Moses, My servant, the statutes and judgments which I commanded him at Horeb for all Israel. # Dt 4:10
5Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet # Lk 1:17 before the coming of the great and dreaded day of the Lord. # Joel 2:31 6He will turn the hearts of the fathers to their children, and the hearts of the children to their fathers, # Mal 2:10; 3:7 lest I come and strike the earth with a curse. # Isa 11:4; Zec 5:3; 14:11
