1 Corinthians 2

2
Proclaiming Christ Crucified
1Brothers, when I came to you, I did not come with superiority of speech or wisdom, # 1Co 1:17; 2:4 declaring to you the testimony of God. 2For I determined not to know anything among you except Jesus Christ and Him crucified. # Gal 6:14 3I was with you in weakness # 2Co 13:4 and in fear and in much trembling. 4My speech and my preaching were not with enticing words of man’s wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power, # Ro 15:19; 1Co 4:20 5so that your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God. # 2Co 4:7; 6:7
The Revelation by God’s Spirit
6Yet we speak wisdom among those who are mature, # Heb 5:14 although not the wisdom of this age, nor of the rulers of this age, who are coming to nothing. # 1Co 1:28 7But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, # Ro 16:25–26 the hidden wisdom, which God ordained before the ages for our glory. # 2Ti 1:9 8None of the rulers of this age knew it. For had they known it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory. # Ac 7:2; Jas 2:1 9But as it is written,
“Eye has not seen,
nor ear heard,
nor has it entered into the heart of man
the things which God has prepared for those who love Him.” # Isa 64:4 # 2:9 Isa 64:4.
10But God has revealed them to us by His Spirit. # Jn 14:26; Eph 3:3
For the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God. 11For what man knows the things of a man, except the spirit of man which is in him? # Pr 20:27 Likewise, no one knows the things of God, except the Spirit of God. 12Now we have received not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit which is of God, so that we might know the things that are freely given to us by God. 13These things also we proclaim, not in the words which man’s wisdom teaches, # 1Co 1:17; 2:4 but which the Holy Spirit teaches, comparing spiritual things with spiritual. 14But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; # 1Co 1:18; Jude 19 nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. 15But he who is spiritual judges all things. # 1Co 3:1; 14:37 Yet he himself is not judged by anyone. 16For
“who has known the mind of the Lord
that he may instruct Him?” # Ro 11:34 # 2:16 Isa 40:13.
But we have the mind of Christ. # Jn 15:15
