Numbers 20:4-9

If you've been single for a long stretch of time, you may be asking God some questions. If you've wondered the purpose of your waiting, you're just like me. In this devotion, we'll discuss the mountains and the valleys of waiting through the stories of Moses, Ruth, Jacob, Paul, and Abraham.

Perseverance is the key so that our Christian faith does not waver amid difficult situations. Perseverance will also train the capacity of our faith and heart to be ready to receive God's miracles. Through this "Walking with Jesus" devotional series, we will learn to be believers who always persevere in any situation with the power of God's words.

We all have excuses as to why we cannot move when God tells us to. “I’m not qualified” or “I’m still getting training in that area”. We think that our limitations are God’s limitations and we stop moving. In Plan 4 of Learning from the Old Testament Greats, we see Moses’ journey from fearful to faithful. We learn from his life how one “grows as they go”.

In the book of Numbers, God demonstrates himself as a pillar of fire and a pillar of smoke, faithfully leading his often rebellious people through the wilderness. Although the faithless wilderness generation was barred from entering the promised land, God was raising up a generation to lead the people from their wandering into the conquest of the land of Canaan.
