Herod Agrippa ordered a thorough search for him. When he couldn’t be found, Herod interrogated the guards and sentenced them to death. Afterward Herod left Judea to stay in Caesarea for a while. Now Herod was very angry with the people of Tyre and Sidon. So they sent a delegation to make peace with him because their cities were dependent upon Herod’s country for food. The delegates won the support of Blastus, Herod’s personal assistant, and an appointment with Herod was granted. When the day arrived, Herod put on his royal robes, sat on his throne, and made a speech to them. The people gave him a great ovation, shouting, “It’s the voice of a god, not of a man!” Instantly, an angel of the Lord struck Herod with a sickness, because he accepted the people’s worship instead of giving the glory to God. So he was consumed with worms and died. Meanwhile, the word of God continued to spread, and there were many new believers. When Barnabas and Saul had finished their mission to Jerusalem, they returned, taking John Mark with them.

Throughout God’s Word there are many accounts of individuals who faced challenging circumstances, but God protected them every time. In the God Comes Through in Protecting You Bible plan readers will discover through scripture how the LORD will protect you in any challenge you encounter in life.
Sometimes it seems like God is failing. The same was true for those first disciples too. This 5-day plan will take you through a time when it looked like God’s kingdom promises just weren’t coming true, through the lens of Acts 12. It continues our journey through the book of Acts, the Bible’s gripping sequel of Jesus at work in the life of his followers as he expands his kingdom to the ends of the earth. It’s a journey on what it means to be a Christian. It’s a story in which you have a role to play.
For me, one of the most fascinating areas to explore when I was writing Seeing the Supernatural was the existence of angels. I wanted to go far beyond cartoon depictions to delve into the most important questions about angelic beings. What are they, exactly? What are they capable of doing? How do they interact with us? How can they encourage us in our faith? That’s the subject of this five-day reading plan. It’s a journey through the biblical evidence for celestial spirits and their impact on us. —Lee Strobel

An anonymous quotation says, "He died in public for you. Why would you live your Christian life in private?" A genuine transformation almost always follows a public testimony, whether to one or two, perhaps a group of people. It's like discovering a cure for a dreaded disease, you just don't keep it to yourself. Make your faith public!
