1 John 5:1, 5, 10-13, 20

Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God, and everyone who loves the father loves his child as well.

Who is it that overcomes the world? Only the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God.

Whoever believes in the Son of God accepts this testimony. Whoever does not believe God has made him out to be a liar, because they have not believed the testimony God has given about his Son. And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life. I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life.

We know also that the Son of God has come and has given us understanding, so that we may know him who is true. And we are in him who is true by being in his Son Jesus Christ. He is the true God and eternal life.
