The Spirit of the LORD will rest upon that king. The Spirit will give him wisdom and understanding, guidance and power. The Spirit will teach him to know and respect the LORD. This king will be glad to obey the LORD. He will not judge by the way things look or decide by what he hears. But he will judge the poor honestly; he will be fair in his decisions for the poor people of the land. At his command evil people will be punished, and by his words the wicked will be put to death. Goodness and fairness will give him strength, like a belt around his waist. Then wolves will live in peace with lambs, and leopards will lie down to rest with goats. Calves, lions, and young bulls will eat together, and a little child will lead them. Cows and bears will eat together in peace. Their young will lie down to rest together. Lions will eat hay as oxen do. A baby will be able to play near a cobra’s hole, and a child will be able to put his hand into the nest of a poisonous snake.

5 Days
This Bible reading plan is something of a paradox. Over the next five days, we’re going to look both at the Bible and outside the Bible. We’re going to learn to read God’s word in context of His world. So come, join us. Listen to the birds and the skies and the seasons. Listen to the Scripture and Spirit. Listen as they sing of God’s glory together.
What does it mean for both heaven and nature to sing? How does the Advent season reflect the reality that Jesus came not only to save the world but to save the entire cosmos? This plan walks us through five days of reflecting on these truths during Advent.
The book of Isaiah contains rich imagery, prophecies about the coming Messiah, and reminders of God’s faithfulness towards his people. The prophet Isaiah recounts God’s faithfulness to the Israelites and speaks of his hope in a future redemption through Jesus. On this plan, you will learn more about God’s justice and compassion and how he is present and near to those who are suffering.
