2 Timothy 2:5-7

We are usually impressed by inspirational stories of dramatic, overnight transformation, but living as a disciple of Jesus is a long game. We are all broken people. No one has arrived. Written near the end of Paul’s life, 2 Timothy is an earnest entreaty for Timothy to remain faithful to his calling. Paul encourages Timothy to be bold in teaching sound doctrine, to present himself as a worker approved by God, and to have endurance in following Christ. Like Paul, we too are called “fight the good fight…finish the race…and keep the faith” (2 Timothy 4:7) in our own lives.
