And the disciples came and said to Him, “Why do You speak to them in parables?” Jesus answered them, “To you it has been granted to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it has not been granted. For whoever has, to him more shall be given, and he will have an abundance; but whoever does not have, even what he has shall be taken away from him. Therefore I speak to them in parables; because while seeing they do not see, and while hearing they do not hear, nor do they understand. In their case the prophecy of Isaiah is being fulfilled, which says, ‘YOU WILL KEEP ON HEARING, BUT WILL NOT UNDERSTAND; YOU WILL KEEP ON SEEING, BUT WILL NOT PERCEIVE; FOR THE HEART OF THIS PEOPLE HAS BECOME DULL, WITH THEIR EARS THEY SCARCELY HEAR, AND THEY HAVE CLOSED THEIR EYES, OTHERWISE THEY WOULD SEE WITH THEIR EYES, HEAR WITH THEIR EARS, AND UNDERSTAND WITH THEIR HEART AND RETURN, AND I WOULD HEAL THEM.’ But blessed are your eyes, because they see; and your ears, because they hear. For truly I say to you that many prophets and righteous men desired to see what you see, and did not see it, and to hear what you hear, and did not hear it.

“Have you understood all these things?” They *said to Him, “Yes.” And Jesus said to them, “Therefore every scribe who has become a disciple of the kingdom of heaven is like a head of a household, who brings out of his treasure things new and old.”

Infinitum is a way of life centered on following Jesus by loving God and loving others through an emphasis on the habits and disciplines of surrender, generosity, and mission. We aim to see the Bible and also the world through these Jesus-colored lenses. This short reading plan considers Generous Evangelism.
Jesus used parables to teach others, and these still speak to us today. Many parables are well known; others less so. Some bring comfort; others correction. Some are easy; others difficult. Of all parables, we hear a take-away message that sounds right & fine, but may miss the key point – likely because that teaching is so difficult. In this devotional, we take a closer look at this most difficult parable.
Is there a time when God stops pursuing us? The scary answer is yes. God is merciful and He gives us chance after chance. But our chances are not infinite. Eventually time runs out. This devotional will explore what it looks like when a hardened heart refuses God’s welcome so many times that He stops asking.

This plan is designed to help you focus on your relationship with the Lord. Ask the Lord to search your heart as you explore Ephesians 1 and ask questions like the following: “Who am I?” “How do I see myself?” “Where do I find my identity?” “Who does God say I am?”
