The Bible compares the Christian life to a race in Hebrews 12:1. Unfortunately, many people approach it as if it were a sprint, in which a quick start counts, or a middle-distance race to run smoothly. The real comparison is with a marathon, where various things and people are trying to slow us down or stop us. We must approach the race with the right mindset and with the knowledge that God provides us with the means to go all the way. What a tragedy it would be to abandon the race when victory is certain!

Like Joshua and the Israelites, we who were slaves brought treasure out of our slavery. The question is: are we going to use that wealth for God’s glory and thrive in the wilderness?
