But also some of the Jewish exorcists, who went from place to place, attempted to name over those who had the evil spirits the name of the Lord Jesus, saying, “I adjure you by Jesus whom Paul preaches.” Seven sons of one Sceva, a Jewish chief priest, were doing this. And the evil spirit answered and said to them, “I recognize Jesus, and I know about Paul, but who are you?” And the man, in whom was the evil spirit, leaped on them and subdued all of them and overpowered them, so that they fled out of that house naked and wounded. This became known to all, both Jews and Greeks, who lived in Ephesus; and fear fell upon them all and the name of the Lord Jesus was being magnified. Many also of those who had believed kept coming, confessing and disclosing their practices. And many of those who practiced magic brought their books together and began burning them in the sight of everyone; and they counted up the price of them and found it fifty thousand pieces of silver.

No local church of Jesus Christ progresses beyond its leaders. When Paul made his farewell to the elders he had trained in the church in Ephesus in Acts 20, he presented the record of his ministry with them as an example of true spiritual leadership that faithfully built up the church. As Alistair Begg explains, the transparency, integrity, and urgency he modeled are an example to the church’s leaders today.

Do you want to know more about God? Do you want God to use your life to transform this generation? What if I told you that the aroma of Christ can completely change your life? In this plan we will see how we can smell like Jesus and how we can go deeper in our relationship with Him. You can be the closest opportunity someone will have to smell Jesus.
In this 5 day reading plan, Bible teachers, authors, and friends Jackie Hill Perry, Jasmine Holmes, and Melissa Kruger walk through Ephesians 1, examining the invaluable truths Paul’s letter holds for us today. Along the way, they’ll help us understand the riches of our inheritance as daughters of our heavenly Father, as well as what it means to walk in a manner worthy of our calling.
At its core, Acts prods us to be evangelistic. But God’s power to save a person and transform their life is God’s power, not ours. God will work through you despite your limitations. This 5-day plan continues a journey through the book of Acts, the Bible’s gripping sequel of Jesus at work in the life of his followers as he expands his kingdom to the ends of the earth. It’s a journey on what it means to be a Christian. It’s a story in which you have a role to play.
