But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us. We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed; always bearing about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our body. For we which live are alway delivered unto death for Jesus' sake, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our mortal flesh. So then death worketh in us, but life in you. We having the same spirit of faith, according as it is written, I believed, and therefore have I spoken; we also believe, and therefore speak; knowing that he which raised up the Lord Jesus shall raise up us also by Jesus, and shall present us with you. For all things are for your sakes, that the abundant grace might through the thanksgiving of many redound to the glory of God. For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day.

Sometimes, in seasons of hardship, it’s easy to give in to despair. In this three-day plan, Tony Evans teaches from 2 Corinthians about how Paul used his struggles to further glorify God.
God wants to fill you up with His Holy Spirit. He wants to use you to change this world, to bring hope. He wants to fill us with His presence, so much so that we will overflow to a world that is hungry and thirsty. We are to be earthen vessels filled with the treasure of heaven. The people of the world need this treasure. They need Jesus.
One of the most inspiring passages from Paul is where he says that we have “a treasure in earthen vessels.” By this he means that there is within us something much more powerful and meaningful than our earthly body, which is just a container for that gift from God.
