But to all who did receive him, to those who believe in his name, he gave the right to become children of God.

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

The light is shining in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.

The Word became flesh and dwelled among us. We have seen his glory, the glory he has as the only-begotten from the Father, full of grace and truth.

He was in the world, and the world was made through him, yet the world did not recognize him. He came to what was his own, yet his own people did not accept him.

The real light that shines on everyone was coming into the world.

For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.
