Then he said to them, “Come away by yourselves to a desolate place and rest for a little while.” For many people were coming and going, and Jesus and his apostles did not even have an opportunity to eat.

Then Jesus said to them, “A prophet is not without honor except in his hometown, among his relatives, and in his own household.”

When Jesus went ashore and saw a large crowd, he was moved with compassion for them, because they were like sheep without a shepherd. So he began to teach them many things.

So he could do no miracle there, except that he laid his hands on a few sick people and healed them. And he was amazed at their unbelief. Then Jesus went around among the villages teaching.

Then he took the five loaves and the two fish, and looking up to heaven, he blessed the food. He broke the loaves and gave them to his disciples to set before the people, and he divided the two fish among them all. They all ate and were filled, and the disciples picked up twelve baskets full of the broken pieces and of the fish.
