He will live with them, and they’ll be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. ‘He will wipe away every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death’ or sadness or crying or pain, because these things are gone forever.”

The one who was sitting on the throne said, “I’m making everything new!” Then he said, “Write this down. You can trust these words, because they’re true.”

And I heard a loud voice from the throne that said, “Look! God will now make his home among the people.

He said to me, “It’s done. I’m the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. If anyone is thirsty, I’ll give them water for free from the spring of the water of life.

Those who win the victory will receive all this from me. I’ll be their God, and they’ll be my children.

But others will be thrown into the lake of fire that burns with sulfur: cowards, unbelievers, and murderers; those who are impure or commit sexual sins or practice witchcraft; those who worship idols; and all liars. The lake of fire is the second death.”

Then I saw “a new heaven and a new earth.” The first heaven and the first earth had vanished, and there was no longer any sea.

I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God like a bride dressed beautifully for her husband.

The city doesn’t need the sun or moon to shine on it, because God’s glory is its light and the Lamb is its lamp. The nations will walk by the light of the city, and the kings of the world will bring their glory into it.
